Nightly Protests Resume in Multiple Iranian Cities with Calls for Regime Change
Rebellious Youths Target Governor’s Offices and Basij Bases in Abadan, Neyriz, Yazd, and Qazvin; Regime Secretly Buries Martyrs

On Monday night, January 5, 2026, marking the ninth night of the nationwide uprising, various areas of Tehran and other cities across Iran witnessed demonstrations and clashes between rebellious youths and Khamenei’s mercenaries.
In Tehran, people and rebellious youths demonstrated in Haft Howz, Narmak, chanting, ‘This year is the year of blood, Seyyed Ali will be overthrown.’ In Tehransar and Naziabad, people took to the streets chanting, ‘Death to the dictator.’ In Yaft Abad and Shahrak-e Vali Asr, rebellious youths set fire to two motorcycles belonging to the repressive State Security Force (SSF). Earlier on Monday, merchants in Tehran’s Cheragh Bargh, Sepahsalar, and Ahangaran markets protested the high price of foreign currency and their deteriorating living conditions. They clashed with the SSF, who attacked them with tear gas, chanting, ‘Dishonorable, dishonorable.’
In Sonqor and Kolyaee, and Islamabad-e-Gharb in Kermanshah province, people demonstrated, chanting, ‘Death to Khamenei.’ In Arak, rebellious youths blocked streets by setting fire to trash cans and chanted, ‘Death to Khamenei.’ In Juyabad, Isfahan, brave youths confronted direct fire from mercenaries while chanting, ‘Death to the oppressor.’ Nightly demonstrations also continued in Gohardasht and Golshahr in Karaj with anti-regime slogans.
On Monday night, students at Birjand University demonstrated, chanting, ‘So many years of crime, death to this Velayat (mullahs’ rule).’ Students at Shiraz University also protested against repressive measures in their dormitories.
On January 4 and 5, rebellious youths dealt heavy blows to centers of suppression. They targeted the regime’s governor’s office in Abadan, as well as Basij bases and the plundering institution known as the ‘Relief Committee’ in Yazd, Qazvin, and Ahvaz, with Molotov cocktails. In Neyriz, the entrance to the governor’s office, a Basij base, and an SSF vehicle were set on fire. In Aligudarz, street hit-and-run battles were ongoing, forcing mercenaries to flee. Additionally, in Mashhad and Neyriz, banners of Qasem Soleimani were set on fire.
On Monday morning, the regime’s henchmen secretly buried the body of uprising martyr Ahmadreza Amani in a village outside Azna. The bodies of martyrs Rasoul and Reza Kadivarian were also buried under tight security in Kermanshah. Yasuj is under a heavy security presence. Meanwhile, Azad University has canceled its exams nationwide, and the dormitories of Sharif University have been evacuated.
