NCRI logoKhamenei, with a wave of executions, prison sentences for criminals, suppression of women, and censorship, is attempting to prevent an uprising by the people.

85 executions in the past 20 days
Ali Khamenei, amidst internal and external crises, fears the consequences of foreign warmongering and is terrified of a popular uprising. He is desperately trying to regain control of the situation with brutal executions, criminal prison sentences, suppression of women, and censorship.

Today, Thursday, May 9, four prisoners—Hassan Arabi, Hassan Chupani, Abdullah Hassanzadeh, and a prisoner named Hassan—were hanged in Urmia prison. On Wednesday, May 8, four other prisoners, including a woman named Fariba Mohammadzehi, Abdullah Uzbakzehi, and Khalilollah Barahoui (all Baluch compatriots), were executed in Kerman prison, and Khan Mohammad Es’haqzehi was hanged in Semnan prison.

On Tuesday, May 7, Hassan Moharrar was executed in Urmia Central Prison, and on Sunday, May 5, Ali Asghar Falah was executed in Qom Central Prison. Additionally, on Thursday, May 2, four prisoners—Mohammad Rasoul Khoshkar, Saeed Ranjdoost, Saber Amin-Abadi, and Mehdi Habibi—were hanged in Tabriz prison, and Ya’qub Amiri was executed in Ardabil prison. This brings the total number of registered executions in the past 20 days to at least 85.

In another criminal act, on Tuesday, May 7, the IRGC agents brutally murdered the renowned Baluch singer Balal Nasroui in front of the 88th Armored Division and near the Intelligence Office in Zahedan, using knife strikes. The IRGC had previously threatened Balal, who had told his friends: ‘If I am assassinated, know that no one other than the IRGC is responsible, and I have no issues or problems with anyone.’ Yesterday, a funeral ceremony was held for Balal in his hometown of Mirjaveh, attended by thousands.

On the other hand, the regime’s judiciary has sentenced the prominent director and filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof to 8 years in prison, flogging, a monetary fine, and confiscation of property on fabricated charges. These punishments, even according to the laws of this regime, lack legitimacy.

Once again, the Iranian Resistance calls upon the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, the European Union, and member countries not to remain silent and inactive in the face of executions and repression in Iran. They must take action to save the lives of prisoners, especially political prisoners, who are at risk of execution.
