Iran: Religious Fascism’s Execution Machine Hangs 21-Year-Old Uprising Prisoner Ghaem Hosseini in Another Anti-Human Crime
Call for Urgent Action to Save the Lives of Prisoners on Death Row

On the morning of Thursday, August 20, 2026, the execution machine of the religious fascism ruling Iran, in another anti-human crime, hanged uprising prisoner Ghaem Hosseini (of Afghan origin) in Isfahan Prison. The death sentence had been issued by the regime’s revolutionary court in Isfahan and criminal judges Mohammad Barati Dorcheh and Mohammad-Reza Tavakoli.

Ghaem Hosseini, who was arrested during the January uprising along with 11 others in the case known as ‘Alikhani Square’ in Isfahan, was sentenced to death in connection with the killing of four Special Unit officers involved in suppressing the uprising. Four of these rebellious protesters, Erfan Esfandiari, Gol-Mohammad Mohammadi, Amir-Hossein Safari, and Abolfazl Sepahi, had been previously hanged. Seven other prisoners in this case, namely Alireza Sepahi (24), Shervin Bagherian (18), Amir-Hossein Ebrahimi (19), Amir-Hossein Maleki (19), Ali Dashti (19), Abolfazl Ebrahimi (18), and Alireza Reisi (21), are in imminent danger of execution.

During the show trials, these prisoners were denied the right to choose their own lawyers, and even state-appointed lawyers were not allowed access to the case files. Previously, on July 19, 2026, the Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) had warned of the danger of execution facing these prisoners and called on international bodies to take urgent action to save them.

Saluting the hanged rebellious protesters, the Iranian Resistance once again calls on the United Nations Security Council and all international human rights organizations for immediate and effective action to halt the wave of executions of political prisoners, especially the seven youths in Isfahan’s Alikhani Square case. The ruling regime in Iran must be held accountable for five decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.
