On Tuesday, April 25th, on the fifth day of the strike by project workers in the oil, gas, petrochemical, power plants, steel, and copper mining industries, more workers joined the strike, and the workers’ protest expanded to 104 centers and industrial companies across 37 cities in 13 provinces throughout the country.

Today, workers from various industrial centers and companies joined the strike, including:

– Tehran: Workers from Chegalesh Company of Tehran Refinery Project

– Isfahan: Workers from Tamkar Company of Khayam Neishabour steel project

– Borujen: Workers from Chaghavar gas station

– Behbahan: Project workers from Bidboland Refinery

– Ahvaz: Workers from Pars Nsab Karun and Khuzestan Zamzam 3 Steel Company 3

– Karoon: Workers from Chegalesh Company

– Sirjan: Workers from Golgohar Iron and Steel

In addition, Iranian workers who are installing power plant equipment in Romeyla Company in Iraq have also joined the strike.

The striking workers describe their work as akin to slavery, and they are demanding a 79% increase in wages to counter the rampant inflation, as well as 20 days of work and 10 days of rest. They are also demanding freedom from the exploitative laws of special economic zones and the removal of predatory contractors who, in collusion with the Ministries of Oil, Cooperation, Labor, and Social Welfare, hire these workers and take advantage of the rising unemployment in the country to ruthlessly exploit them, disregarding their basic rights.

Meanwhile, today, workers of the metro operation in Tehran protested outside the Tehran City Council, expressing frustration over the lack of response to their demands.
