Iran: Protests by Pensioners, Workers, and Laborers in Dozens of Cities: ‘United and Allied Against Death Sentences’
‘Imprisoned Protesters Must Be Freed,’ ‘The Result of Government’s Work: Looting the People’s Pockets,’ ‘Only in the Street Will We Gain Our Rights’
From October 24 to 26, 2026, telecommunications, Social Security, and steel retirees took to the streets in dozens of Iranian cities to protest the mullahs’ regime’s predatory policies and their own dire living conditions. These protests were accompanied by crushing slogans against executions, inflation, and corruption in state institutions.

On Monday, October 26, telecommunications retirees gathered in Isfahan, Tehran, Tabriz, Ilam, Borujerd, Bijar, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Sanandaj, and dozens of other cities. Demonstrators voiced intense anger against state institutions and foundations, chanting: “We built telecommunications, the IRGC took it, we lost,” “Our State Broadcasting is our shame,” “Where are the media? Come to our rescue,” and “No nation has ever seen such incompetence.” In Tehran, a protest gathering in the Sardar-e Jangal area was met with widespread support from citizens and continuous honking from passing cars.

On Sunday, October 25, Social Security Organization retirees gathered in Tehran, Shush, Rasht, and Ahvaz. They chanted: “United and allied against death sentences,” “Imprisoned protesters must be freed,” “Neither Parliament nor the government cares about the people,” “Only in the street will we gain our rights,” “The result of the government’s work: Looting the people’s pockets,” “Hussein, Hussein is their slogan, lies and theft are their work,” and “Rampant oppression and tyranny have brought us into the street.”

Steel retirees intended to gather in Tehran from across Iran on Sunday, October 25. However, the Ministry of Intelligence used intimidation, threats, and pressure at origin points to prevent buses scheduled to leave various cities for Tehran from departing. Nevertheless, a group of retirees made their way to Tehran and joined local steel retirees in protesting in front of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare.

On the same day, school and public transport drivers in Karaj gathered to protest a severe diesel fuel shortage. Meanwhile, bakers in Iranshahr went on strike.

On Saturday, October 24, employees of the Bidboland Ahvaz, Hosseiniyeh, Piazabad, and Kuhdasht gas pressure booster stations held protest rallies following months of unanswered demands. On the same day, a group of Ilam municipal workers gathered in front of the local governorate to protest their employment status.
