Following their four-day campaign, Iranians and supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) rallied in Geneva to protest the planned visit of Iran’s regime representative to the Global Refugee Forum.

Iran Opposition & Resistance Iranians Celebrate Cancellation of Ebrahim Raisi’s Geneva Trip, Call for Global Condemnation of Tehran

Initially, despite condemnation by human rights organizations for his direct involvement in the massacre of political prisoners and protesters, Ebrahim Raisi, the regime’s president was expected to lead the Iranian delegation. However, Tehran canceled his trip following a formal complaint to the Swiss prosecutor and a document with over 330 signatures from former leaders, parliamentarians, and human rights advocates.

In Geneva, protesters expressed joy at the success of the campaign and condemned the policy of appeasement toward the Iranian regime. They called for an investigation into Raisi and the regime’s leaders, holding them accountable for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the NCRI, conveyed a message to the demonstrators, read by Mahnaz Salimian, the NCRI Senior Secretary. Various political figures, NCRI members, former political prisoners under the clerical regime, and representatives of Iranian communities addressed the crowd, including Abolghasem Rezaei, the deputy secretary of the National Council of Resistance of Iran.

Paulo Casaca, a former Member of the European Parliament from Portugal, congratulated recent victories, urging consistent protest against the Iranian regime. He highlighted a recent regime-sponsored assassination against Dr. Alejo Vidal Quadras and called on the global community to support the Iranian people’s fight for freedom rather than negotiate with the oppressive regime.

Rémy Pagani, former Mayor of Geneva, praised the international campaign that successfully prevented Raisi’s visit, encouraging continued resistance against the brutal religious dictatorship that perpetrates daily crimes against the Iranian people.

Asghar Adibi, former member of the Iranian national football team and NCRI member, delivered remarks during the demonstration. Révérend Daniel Neeser emphasized that the cancellation of Raisi’s trip was a result of the protesters’ efforts, highlighting the criminal nature of the Iranian regime’s delegation to the United Nations.

Niels Dudardel, former representative of the Swiss Federal Parliament and NCRI’s lawyer in the case of Dr. Kazem Rajavi, praised the recent victories of the resistance and Raisi’s absence in Geneva. He emphasized the seriousness with which the Swiss prosecutor treated the complaint, pointing out Raisi’s involvement in the assassination of Dr. Kazem Rajavi. Dr. Kazem Rajavi was the NCRI representative in Switzerland and was assassinated by the Iranian regime in 1990.

Mr. Dudardel also acknowledged the crucial role of women in the Iranian uprising, praising their leadership in the resistance movement. In conclusion, representatives of Iranian communities and relatives of martyrs spoke, reaffirming their determination to follow the path paved by the martyrs to achieve freedom.

In the final segment, representatives of Iranian communities and the families of fallen members of the resistance, stepped onto the stage to address the crowd. They passionately reiterated their unwavering commitment to continue along the path laid out by the martyrs, all in pursuit of achieving freedom.
