NCRI’s Latest Revelations in the UK Underline Necessity to Proscribe IRGC

On February 2, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Representative office in the United Kingdom held a press conference, revealing a document from inside the regime about Tehran’s plan to abduct its dissidents. This even came among the growing calls for blacklisting the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) as a terrorist entity in the European Union, particularly the UK.
The NCRI’s revelations clearly define how the fundamentalist organs of the regime, such as Jamiat al‐Mustafi and Ahl al‐Bayt, whose work is apparently religious propaganda, are at the service of the IRGC’s Quds Force terrorist organization.

This document shows that the Foreign Ministry of the regime and its embassies are considered a body for the fundamentalist and terrorist activities of the Iranian regime.
NCRI’s press conference was also attended by British Conservative MP Mr. Bob Blackman. He underlined that the regime’s heinous and malicious activities in Iran and the UK could also be a danger to the United States. He also vowed to continue his efforts to put pressure on the UK government to proscribe the IRGC.

While confirming Mr. Blackman’s remark and praising his commitment, Mr. Abedini underlined that this pressure is necessary as the regime’s armed forces are terrorists. He said that the UK government knows this fact, but blacklisting the IRGC is a political decision.
It is worth noting that MI5 Director General Ken McCallum had previously warned that Tehran has taken several terrorist measures, including, “At its sharpest, this includes ambitions to kidnap or even kill British or UK-based individuals perceived as enemies of the regime.” “We have seen at least ten such potential threats since January alone,” Reuters quoted McCallum as saying.

The NCRI’s revelations on Thursday also included some facts about the IRGC’s role in oppressing the ongoing Iran protests, as well as exporting terrorism. Abedini underlined that the IRGC plays a leading role in the suppression of the Iranian people. For example, during the November 2019 popular uprisings, IRGC was responsible for the killing of 1500 innocent protestors. With the start of the Syrian Civil War in 2011 and the extensive participation of the IRGC Quds Force under the command of Qassem Soleimani in supporting the dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad, the name of the IRGC Quds Force and Soleimani was published more than ever in the international media.

The NCRI’s revelations once again underlined the need to proscribe the IRGC as the terrorist organization that it is. This action would be a severe blow to the regime’s oppressive and terrorist apparatus and will render it weaker. By taking these actions, the international community practically supports the Iranian people and their revolution in the making, which has continued despite the regime’s heavy crackdown in the last five months.
