On Thursday, July 16, 2026, the extensive hunger strike and sit-in by 1,500 prisoners in Unit 2 of Ghezel Hesar Prison entered its fourth day. Most of these prisoners have been sentenced to death by the regime’s judiciary.

The striking prisoners, holding placards and banners reading “No to Executions,” chanted slogans such as “No to Executions,” “Abolish the Death Penalty,” “People, come to our aid,” and “Be our voice, the voice of the prisoners.”

Reports indicate that the health condition of several striking prisoners is critical. Nevertheless, prison henchmen refuse to open the ward doors to transfer these prisoners to the infirmary.

The Iranian Resistance once again calls the attention of international authorities and human rights advocates to the urgent situation of the prisoners in Unit 2 of Ghezel Hesar and demands immediate action to save the lives of these death row prisoners.
