Students Reject Any Form of Dictatorship, Chanting “Neither Monarchy nor Leadership, Democracy, Equality,” “Death to the Oppressor, Be It the Shah or the Leader,” and “We Did Not Give Martyrs to Compromise”
On Monday, February 23, 2026, marking the third consecutive day, universities across the country—including the University of Tehran, Al-Zahra, Sharif University of Technology, Isfahan University of Technology, Amirkabir, Melli (Beheshti), Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), Khajeh Nasir, Ferdowsi, and Sajjad in Mashhad—were the scene of protest gatherings and courageous confrontations with suppressive forces. By boycotting classes and chanting thunderous slogans of “Death to the dictator” and “We swear by the blood of our comrades, we stand to the end,” students demonstrated their resolve to overthrow the clerical regime.

Students at some universities, such as Tehran and Amirkabir, declared their firm demarcation against the dictatorships of the mullahs and the Shah by chanting, “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader” and “Neither monarchy nor leadership; democracy, equality.”

Protesting students at Al-Zahra University voiced their opposition to suppression, killings, and the regime’s policies with slogans such as “Do not be afraid, we are all together,” “We did not give martyrs to compromise and praise the murderous leader,” and “So many years of crime, death to this regime.” During this gathering, students held placards and photos of the martyrs of the January uprising, turning the campus into a bastion of resistance. When the regime’s Basij forces attempted to infiltrate the crowd to disrupt the demonstration, they faced a fierce reaction from students chanting, “Scoundrel, scoundrel.”

Students at the University of Tehran’s Faculty of Foreign Languages held a demonstration chanting “Death to the dictator” and “For every person killed, a thousand will rise.” Clashes erupted between students and Basij mercenaries on the University of Tehran campus. Simultaneously, a commemoration ceremony for the uprising martyr, Mohammad Reza Moradali, was held at the Faculty of Theology.

Additionally, a commemoration ceremony for the uprising martyr Zahra (Raha) Bohloulipour was held with the participation of a large number of students at the University of Tehran’s Faculty of Foreign Languages, who chanted, “This withered flower is a gift to the homeland.”

At Sharif University, a student gathering took place with slogans including, “This year is the year of blood, Seyyed Ali will be overthrown,” “We did not give martyrs to compromise,” and “Death to Khamenei.” Students confronted Basij mercenaries by shouting “Scoundrel, scoundrel” and tearing up images of the regime’s leaders.

Simultaneously, students at Isfahan University of Technology staged demonstrations for the third consecutive day, chanting slogans such as, “Until the mullahs are buried, this homeland will not be a homeland,” “So many years of crime, death to this regime,” and “This year is the year of blood, Seyyed Ali [Khamenei] will be overthrown.”
