On Friday, June 16, despite the regime’s ruthless suppressive measures, the courageous people of Zahedan once again took to the streets after Friday prayers to voice their protest against the mullahs’ regime. Their resounding chants echoed through the air: “I’ll kill whoever killed my brother,” “Political prisoners must be freed,” “Kurd, Baluch, and Azeri; freedom and equality,” “A hundred years of crimes, this theocracy is a lier,” “We fight, we fight, to take Iran back,” “Basiji and IRGC, you are our ISIS”, “This nation yearns for freedom, for a prosperous country,” “Swearing on the blood of our comrades, we stand united till the end,” “Iranians, Unity, Revolution, Freedom,” and “It’s time for revolution, it’s time for unity.”

The youth carried placards bearing messages, reading: “Death to Khamenei,” “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader,” “Oppressed Baluchistan stands tall against monarchy and theocracy,” “The democratic revolution of the Iranian people will triumph,” “The Baluch share from Iran: deprivation, execution, and bullets,” “Our ideals know no surrender, only martyrdom or freedom,” “Political prisoners must be freed,” “Evin has replaced university, Tehran has become a detention center.”

To suppress the protests in Zahedan, the regime had deployed additional suppressive forces from Kerman since the previous day. Today, the internet in the city experienced a complete disruption, and a heavy security presence was established throughout. State Security Forces stood guard at all entrances and exits of Zahedan. Military helicopters patrolled the skies above Zahedan’s main mosque, while additional troops were stationed in various areas, including near the 16th police station adjacent to the Makki mosque. Plainclothes agents could be seen patrolling the streets surrounding the Makki Mosque.
