On Wednesday morning, July 16, 2026, the clerical regime’s henchmen executed two prisoners arrested during the 2022 and 2025 uprisings. The executions were carried out in Ghezel Hessar Prison in Karaj and in Isfahan Prison.
Aref Khoshkar, 28, a political prisoner from the 2022 uprising, was executed in Ghezel Hessar Prison. He had been arrested on November 11, 2022, during the protests in the Fallah neighborhood of Tehran, and was subjected to brutal torture. The regime’s judiciary sentenced him to death on charges of killing a Basij member who was actively involved in suppressing protesters.
Simultaneously, in Isfahan, Mohammad Amini Dahaqani, who was arrested during the January uprising, was executed. The regime’s judiciary had sentenced him to death on charges of ‘enmity against God (Moharebeh) and corruption on Earth’ for ‘drawing a stolen Kalashnikov firearm at officers’ and ‘disrupting national security by setting fire to the governorate and the central police station of Dahaqan.’
The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns the criminal execution of these two protesters and once again calls on the United Nations and human rights defenders for immediate and effective action to save the lives of prisoners on death row in Iran.
