Written by Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced this evening that the number of Coronavirus fatalities in 139 cities in 31 provinces has exceeded 3,000.

One after the other, the clerical regime is reluctantly declaring, albeit belatedly, the state of emergency in provinces and cities.

The breakdown of the death toll in a number of the provinces are as follows: Gilan, 500; Markazi (Central), 80; Isfahan, 350; Khorasan Razavi, 266; Golestan, 254; Mazandaran, 182; Fars, 86; Khuzestan, 84; Kurdistan, 81; Sistan and Baluchestan, 34; and Zanjan, 32. These figures must be added to the death toll in other provinces.

Last night, the Governor of Kashan acknowledged that 88 people had died in the cities of Kashan, Aran and Bidgol, and that1,056 people had been infected. Today, however, Deputy Health Minister said 291 had died in the entire country, and 618 had been infected in Kashan, Aran and Bidgol.

Asadullah Abbasi, a parliamentary speaker said today that Rudsar and Amlash each have a hospital with very poor facilities. “Amlash Hospital does not have a physician … Rudsar Hospital, allocated to Coronavirus infection does not even have an oxygen concentrator or a CT scan,” he added. Majlis (Parliament) Deputy, Tayebeh Siavoshi, said, “(Hassan) Rouhani has not yet accepted that the situation is very critical … Action should have been taken in February, but they were cynical (about the virus outbreak) and said that talking about Coronavirus was intended to disrupt the election!”

“We are at the peak of the outbreak and the number of those infected is increasing by the day … Referrals to the hospitals are very high,” said a member of Tehran’s committee to combat the coronavirus. No beds are available in hospitals across the country. Right now, in Kashan, hospitals are full of patients and no beds are available, forcing the transfer of patients to Tehran. Those who need testing are several times more than those we have tested. We have stopped sending more people for tests… By the first week of April or early May, we estimate that 40% of the population will be infected. We have no personal protective equipment in the hospital for the hospital staff …, ” he added.

“There is still a shortage of Coronavirus protective equipment such as masks, gloves, gowns and protective shields in some medical centers; nurses and medical staff are working in difficult conditions to treat and care for the patients,” the official news agency reported.

Much of the country’s wealth is in the hands of the IRGC, and the Supreme Leader’s Office (Ali Khamenei). Yesterday, four regime Parliament deputies called for allocating the resources of “Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam” (managed by Ali Khamenei’s office), “The Mostazafan (Abased) Foundation” (the biggest holding in the Middle East), and “Petrochemical holdings” to the campaign to combat coronavirus.
