NCRI logoIran: Brutal Attack by Anti-Riot Guards on Unit 4 of Ghezel Hesar Prison and Transfer of 22 Political Prisoners to an Unknown Location
Call for Immediate Action to Ascertain the Condition of These Prisoners and Save the Lives of Political Prisoners Facing Execution
On Sunday night, March 29, 2026, anti-riot guards at Ghezel Hesar Prison raided Unit 4, where political prisoners are held, and transferred all 22 inmates to an unknown location. Subsequently, PMOI members Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvarkar were executed on March 30, followed by Babak Alipour and Pouya Ghobadi on March 31.
As of this moment, there is no information about the remaining prisoners, including Vahid Bani-Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer, who are co-defendants of the four martyred PMOI members. The death sentences for Vahid and Abolhassan, much like those of Mohammad, Akbar, Babak, and Pouya, have been upheld by the regime’s Supreme Court, placing them at imminent risk of execution.
On March 31, Amnesty International declared: “Fears have now intensified over the fate of Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer, convicted in the same case following a grossly unfair torture-tainted trial. The authorities have refused to provide any information regarding their fate and whereabouts to their families or lawyers since their transfer to an unidentified location on 30 March.”
The Iranian Resistance calls for urgent action by the United Nations, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Council, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, and all international human rights organizations to ascertain the condition of the political prisoners from Unit 4 of Ghezel Hesar Prison and to prevent the execution of Abolhassan, Vahid, and other political prisoners.
