In fear of the continuation and spread of the Baluch uprising, and to suppress popular protests, Ali Khamenei, in addition to arresting young people and suppressing worshipers in Zahedan and other cities of the province, today launched another brutal attack on Sunni seminaries in Zahedan.

On Monday morning, December 11, 2023, military, intelligence, and plainclothes forces raided the seminary of Molawi Abdulaziz in Murad Qoli Street in Zahedan and the seminary of Abuzar Ghaffari in Karimabad district of Zahedan, both of which belong to Baluch and Sunni compatriots. They insulted and beat the students, arrested more than 200 people with violence and insults, and transferred them to an unknown location in buses that had been brought to the scene in advance. In addition, a number of other Sunni seminaries in Zahedan have also been surrounded by security forces.

The IRGC justified this brutal attack in its Telegram channels with ridiculous scenarios such as “the arrest of elements of terrorist groups.”

In the past year, and after the massacre of Baluch compatriots in the bloody Friday of Zahedan on September 30, 2022, the mullahs’ regime has intensified pressure and repression on the people of Sistan and Baluchestan province, especially Sunni clerics, and in the past 14 months, the number of Baluch prisoners who have been executed has exceeded 200. In the same period, hundreds of Baluch fuel carriers have been killed or wounded by the IRGC.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations, the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and member states to strongly condemn the brutal suppression of Baluch and Sunni compatriots, and demands an independent investigation into the regime’s crimes in Sistan and Baluchestan, especially from September 2022 to the present, by an international fact-finding commission.
