Iran: Arrest of Vali Zoghi-Tabar, Father of an Imprisoned PMOI Supporter, and Taking the Family of Martyred PMOI Member Babak Alipour Hostage
Call for the Release of Families of PMOI Members
On Sunday, March 29, suppressive forces arrested Vali Zoghi-Tabar, the father of political prisoner Shahin Zoghi-Tabar, at his home and transferred him to an unknown location. This comes as he is recovering from two surgeries and requires medical care.

Vali Zoghi-Tabar is the father of an imprisoned supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), 39-year-old Shahin Zoghi-Tabar, who was arrested by IRGC Intelligence in July 2025 and is currently incarcerated in Ward 7 of Evin Prison. Shahin was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Branch 26 of Tehran’s sham Revolutionary Court, presided over by the executioner Iman Afshari. He has been arrested several times before and has spent years in prison.

Meanwhile, the mother, sister, and brother of the martyred PMOI member Babak Alipour, who were arrested two months ago, remain hostages of the executioners. Omolbanin Dehghan, Babak’s 63-year-old mother, was an active participant in the ‘No to Execution Tuesdays’ campaign. She, along with 31-year-old Maryam Alipour and 40-year-old Roozbeh Alipour, was arrested on January 26, 2026, on a street in Tehran. Babak’s mother and Maryam are currently in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, and Roozbeh is under interrogation in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

The family was deprived of a final meeting and farewell with Babak, who was hanged on March 31. The executioners did not even hand over Babak’s body to his family for burial.

The Iranian Resistance calls on human rights defenders to take immediate action for the release of the families of PMOI members, especially the Alipour and Zoghi-Tabar families.
