According to incoming reports, the regime’s Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of political prisoner Mansour Jamali in Choubindar Prison of Qazvin on charges of “membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).” He is thus at imminent risk of execution. His death sentence was previously issued by Branch 1 of the sham Revolutionary Court of Qazvin, presided over by Esmail Asadi, on the charge of “Moharebeh (waging war against God) through membership in the PMOI.”
Mansour Jamali, 55, from Urmia, was arrested in October 2023 in Bouin Zahra and subjected to prolonged interrogation and torture. After 15 months, his case was referred to the court on the charge of Moharebeh. Throughout his detention and the sham trial process, Mansour was denied access to a lawyer of his choice.
As the ruling religious fascism in Iran resorts to executing political prisoners to delay its inevitable downfall—having sent four PMOI prisoners to the gallows over the past two days—the Iranian Resistance calls for immediate action by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Council, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, other relevant bodies and rapporteurs, and all human rights defenders to revoke the death sentences of Mansour Jamali and other political prisoners on death row, and to secure their release.
