assassinated by the MEK because of his opposition to their transfer to Spain!
The necessity of punishing mercenaries, closing embassies and expelling terrorist diplomats, and MOIS and IRGC agents
As the malevolent intent behind the terrorist attack on Professor Alejo Vidal-Quadras, former Vice President of the European Parliament (1999-2014), garners widespread international condemnation, further indications of the grip of religious fascism in Iran on this heinous crime come to light. The religious fascism ruling Iran, in fear of the repercussions of its crime, resorts to a desperate and irrational scapegoating strategy, absurdly blaming the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) for this criminal act. This tactic echoes the assassination of Professor Kazem Rajavi in Geneva to the recent massacre of the MEK members in Ashraf City in Iraq. Since 1980, Ruhollah Khomeini had declared, “They kill and torture themselves and put the blame on us!”

Quoting Mr. Vidal-Quadras from his hospital bed, Spanish media reported, “I have no enemies other than the Iranian regime,” unequivocally identifying “the Iranian regime as the mastermind behind this terrorist attempt”. According to the Associated Press on November 9, “A police source close to the investigation confirmed that Vidal-Quadras himself had raised the suspicion (toward the Iranian regime) from his hospital bed and that investigators were looking into it as one of several possible motives.” The Associated Press also noted that “another indication” of the investigation’s expansion to include the Iranian regime’s involvement is the revelation that “a provincial brigade (Madrid) responsible for dealing with terrorism and extremism” has joined the investigation.

It is noteworthy that the regime’s Foreign Ministry had blacklisted Professor Alejo Vidal-Quadras and the International Committee In Search of Justice (ISJ) a year ago on October 26, 2022.

Now, the Iranian regime’s embassy in Madrid hastily issued a statement titled “Statement of the Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy Condemning Terrorism” on November 10, 2023. Omitting the victim’s name, it absurdly announced: “The nation of Iran was and is one of the biggest and oldest victims of terrorism with 17,000 innocent victims of the terrorist acts of the Mojahedin-e Khalq sect. From this point of view, the fight against terrorism and the prosecution of the perpetrators of terrorist acts have been defined as one of the principles and priorities of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which firmly condemns any type of terrorist operation.”

Last night, the website of the IRGC Intelligence Organization, named “Mashregh,” presented an absurd scenario claiming, “After the Albanian police raid on this group’s headquarters, the leaders of the terrorist Monafeqin group considered three countries, Canada, Spain, and Germany, as the main destinations for transferring their members… Quadras opposes the transfer of Monafeqin to Spain seriously… The plot to assassinate this political figure, with the scenario of accusing the Islamic Republic as a dual-purpose target, is being considered by its members. Monafeqin intends to carry out a new plan to challenge the Islamic Republic in Europe after the failure of the Monafeqin scenario against Assadollah Assadi, a diplomat of our country.”

The Iranian regime uses the term “Monafeqin” (which means hypocrites in Arabic) as a pejorative to defame the MEK (Mujahedin-e Khalq) within Iranian society.

As the Iranian Resistance has repeatedly reiterated, any appeasement towards religious fascism, including the release of the terrorist diplomat Assadollah Assadi, sentenced to 20 years in prison in Belgium, only emboldens the ruling fascist regime in Iran in its crimes and terrorism. A week after Assadi’s release, mercenaries of the mullahs’ regime targeted a building belonging to the NCRI supporters Iran in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, north of Paris, on May 31 and June 11, 2023, with bullets and incendiary materials, some speaking in Persian. (NCRI statement- June 11, 2023)

The Iranian Resistance calls on the Spanish government, police, and judiciary to arrest the perpetrators of the terrorist plot against Professor Alejo Vidal-Quadras, introduce and prosecute them, and disclose all documents and details for public awareness. As Prof. Vidal Quadras always reiterated, closing the embassies and representations of the Iranian regime in Europe, expelling the agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and the Revolutionary Guards, and punishing their mercenaries are crucial steps in confronting the unbridled terrorism of the religious fascist regime and preventing its spread.
