Iran Protests: Global Rallies Commemorate the 5th Anniversary of November 2019 Uprising

Supporters of the Iranian Resistance and freedom-loving Iranians held rallies and exhibitions across the world on the fifth anniversary of the November 2019 uprising. The events commemorated over 1,500 protesters who were killed during the regime’s brutal crackdown and called for solidarity with the Iranian people’s ongoing struggle for freedom. The widespread gatherings, organized in various cities across different countries, showcased the unwavering determination of the Iranian diaspora and their allies to stand against the oppressive clerical regime.

United States
In Washington, D.C., Iranian Americans gathered outside the White House to demand democratic regime change in Iran. Chanting slogans like “What do we want? Regime change in Iran!” they called for a decisive shift in U.S. policy, urging support for the Iranian people and their organized resistance. Similar rallies were held in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where participants honored the 1,500 lives lost during the November 2019 protests. A photo exhibition in Los Angeles featured the victims of the massacre, drawing attention to the regime’s continued repression. At UC Berkeley in California, an exhibition was held on November 15 to highlight the sacrifices of the November 2019 martyrs.

Canada
In Toronto, on November 14, freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) held a rally commemorating the victims of the 2019 uprising. The participants called for international solidarity and a firm policy against the Iranian regime’s human rights abuses.

Europe
Across Europe, cities hosted rallies and exhibitions in support of the Iranian people. In Brussels, Belgium, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Geneva, Switzerland, and Paris, France, events on November 16 honored the November 2019 uprising. Protesters denounced the regime’s crimes and showcased the resilience of Iran’s people. In Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö, Sweden, participants gathered to commemorate the fallen and reinforce their calls for accountability.

Germany saw an extensive wave of rallies, with events in Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Munich on November 15 and 16. Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) held exhibitions and demonstrations, highlighting the regime’s atrocities. Earlier in the week, on November 13, similar gatherings took place in Essen, and on November 14, in Heidelberg.

In Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark, a rally on November 14 and November 16 drew attention to the need for global support for the Iranian resistance. In neighboring Aarhus, demonstrations on November 16 emphasized the courage of Iran’s youth and the sacrifices made during the November 2019 protests.

In Lugano, Switzerland, an exhibition was held on November 16, while Oslo, Norway, joined in the commemorations with events on November 14, honoring the martyrs of the uprising.

In London, the United Kingdom, supporters of the NCRI and Iranian expatriates held a rally and demonstration to honor the memory of the 1,500 protesters brutally killed during the November 2019 uprising. Participants called for the regime’s overthrow and emphasized the need to blacklist the IRGC for its role in the massacre. The demonstrators chanted slogans demanding justice for the victims and a free Iran, amplifying the global call for accountability and solidarity with the Iranian people’s ongoing resistance.

In Vienna, Austria, on November 14, supporters of the MEK held a rally to honor the martyrs of the November 2019 uprising. Participants condemned the Iranian regime’s crimes and called for international accountability and solidarity with the Iranian people’s fight for freedom.

Global Message of Solidarity
These international efforts coincide with the activities of Resistance Units within Iran, marking the anniversary with acts of defiance. Graffiti campaigns and other actions inside Iran reflect the people’s determination to overthrow the regime despite the risks. The Iranian Resistance’s call for justice and regime change reverberated across continents, underscoring the global solidarity for a free and democratic Iran.

The rallies and exhibitions demonstrated the enduring legacy of the November 2019 uprising, emphasizing that the memory of those who gave their lives for freedom remains a powerful force in the struggle against the Iranian regime. The message from these events was clear: the time for meaningful global action to support the Iranian people is now.
