In the wake of Iran’s recent attack on Israel on April 14, the state of Hessen in Germany has taken decisive action, severing diplomatic ties with the regime in Iran. As reported by the German newspaper Bild, State Minister Manfred Pentz, of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, informed the Iranian regime’s Consul Mansour Airom that he is no longer welcome at the State Chancellery. He has been uninvited from the reception for Hessen’s new government, which was set to host representatives from 97 consular offices, with Pentz stating unequivocally, “Stay away.” Additionally, he is barred from attending any future events.

This exclusion amounts to a ban from the premises. Airom has been struck from all guest lists and is prohibited from entering the Hessian State Chancellery. In his statement, Pentz underscored Iran’s role as an aggressor rather than a victim, citing its longstanding support for terrorism and its nuclear weapons program as key points of concern. He highlighted the recent rocket attack on Israel as a stark reminder of Iran’s destabilizing actions in the Middle East. Pentz expressed his opinion that diplomatic pleasantries should not be extended to the Iranian Consul at this time, given the severity of the situation.

The letter sent on Thursday morning via email and post to the Iranian regime’s Consulate in Frankfurt was no less diplomatic in tone. The Iranian top diplomat is no longer welcome to appear before the state government, thus placing Iran on par with other rogue states.

Approximately 16,000 Iranians reside in Hessen, many of whom have fled the terror state and seek to live in peace in Germany.

On the other hand, German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, during the G7 foreign ministers meeting in Italy, called for further isolation of the Iranian regime in light of its attack on Israel. She also cautioned against escalating tensions in the region.

Baerbock stated, “A tougher stance must be taken against the Islamic Republic. We must isolate Iran more than ever before.”
