The regime’s judiciary: They were members of the PMOI with the aim of overthrowing the regime and disrupting the security of the country.
Maryam Rajavi: By executing these brave men, the regime is trying to delay its overthrow, but it redoubles the anger of the people and the resolve of the combatants. Commander Vahid was always on the frontline of the struggle against the anti-human enemy, and the devoted PMOI member Abolhassan Montazer was a political prisoner from the Shah’s era who had spent 11 years in the mullahs’ regime’s prisons. They are the teachers of the young generation stepping onto the scene in successive uprisings.
Maryam Rajavi once again called for the investigation of the successive executions of political prisoners by the United Nations and the adoption of practical and urgent decisions to save the PMOI and combatant prisoners, as well as courageous rebellious youths facing execution throughout Iran.

At dawn today, April 4, heroic PMOI members Vahid Bani-Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer were executed by hanging by the executioners of the mullahs’ regime in Ghezel Hesar Prison, joining other martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the path to freedom: Mohammad Taghavi, Akbar Daneshvargar, Babak Alipour, and Pouya Ghobadi.

Eng. Vahid Bani-Amerian, 34, an electrical engineer with a master’s degree in management and an elite graduate, was arrested in January 2024. He had been arrested several times since 2017 and spent a total of six years in prison. Abolhassan Montazer, 67, an architectural engineer and a political prisoner from both the Shah’s era and the 1980s, had been arrested multiple times in 2017, 2018, and 2020. He was last arrested on December 21, 2023. In total, he spent over 11 years in the mullahs’ regime’s prisons.

The regime’s judiciary listed the charges against these two proud members as membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) with the aim of overthrowing the regime and disrupting its security, conducting operations, preparing explosive launchers, and carrying out numerous actions and explosions across Tehran. It emphasized that Vahid Bani-Amerian ‘also participated in operations attacking various locations’ and was arrested ‘along with Abolhassan Montazer while they intended to carry out a launcher-firing operation, possessing four launchers’.

The regime’s judiciary added that Abolhassan ‘played an important and influential role in guiding the team; together with Mohammad Taghavi, using funds provided by the hypocrites [the regime’s derogatory term for the PMOI], he proceeded to procure a safe house’ and ‘had accommodated other affiliates in organizational houses… The rented houses were also used as a workshop for manufacturing launchers and homemade bombs.’ It stated he established a ‘workshop for manufacturing launchers and homemade bombs’ and ‘in collaboration with other team members, carried out armed actions in line with the objectives of the PMOI.’ (Mizan news agency, April 4).

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated that the ruling religious dictatorship in Iran has once again spilled the blood of two of the bravest children of the Iranian people, revealing its terror and desperation in the face of the PMOI and the Liberation Army.

Commander Vahid was a courageous PMOI member who was always on the frontline confronting the anti-human enemy, whether within the Resistance Units or in captivity and prison. The devoted PMOI member Abolhassan Montazer was a political prisoner from the Shah’s era who had spent nearly 11 years in the mullahs’ regime’s prisons since the 1980s, serving as a pillar of reliance for the PMOI organization and other political prisoners.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi added: ‘By executing steadfast PMOI members—Vahid, Abolhassan, Mohammad, Akbar, Babak, and Pouya—the ruling mullahs vainly attempt to delay their inevitable overthrow for a few more days. However, this unjustly spilled blood redoubles the anger and disgust of the people and the resolve of the freedom fighters. These exalted martyrs are teachers of perseverance, honesty, and sacrifice for the young generation stepping onto the scene in successive uprisings. Rebellious youths like Amir-Hossein Hatami, Saleh Mohammadi, Mehdi Ghasemi, and Saeed Davoudi, who were executed by hanging in recent weeks, have joined the galaxy of martyrs for freedom.’

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi once again called for a special session of the United Nations to investigate the successive executions of political prisoners and to adopt urgent, practical decisions to save the PMOI and combatant prisoners, as well as courageous rebellious youths facing execution across Iran.
