Execution of a prisoner for killing Abbas Ali Soleimani, a member of the Assembly of Experts; 22 executions in the past few days
The Iranian regime, in its efforts to suppress the people’s uprising, has intensified its executions, particularly of political prisoners and supporters of the MEK.

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the regime’s judiciary sentenced the 45-year-old mother of two Masoumeh Yavari to a total of 13 years in prison on charges of “destroying public property,” “membership in the MEK,” and “propaganda against the system.” Yavari was arrested in September 2023 in Golpayegan and transferred to the Dolat Abad prison in Isfahan. She had previously spent three years in prison from 2009 to 2012 on charges of participating in the 2009 uprising and communicating with the MEK. She suffers from heart disease, vascular occlusion, and thyroid problems, and is in critical condition due to lack of access to medical care.

At the same time, the Revolutionary Court of Evin prison has charged three female political prisoners, Marzieh Farsi, Forough Taghipour, and Nasim Gholami Fard, with the fabricated charge of “sedition.” They are scheduled to be tried in the regime’s kangaroo courts on this basis. This charge carries the possibility of execution or many years in prison.

Forough Taghipour, 29, was first arrested in February 2020 on charges of communicating with the MEK and released in February 2023. She was re-arrested on August 21, 2023, in Tehran. Her father and sister are members of the MEK and are in Ashraf 3, Albania. Her uncle and two aunts, Gholamreza, Parvin, and Tayebeh Jabarianha, were also members of the MEK and were executed by the Iranian regime in the 1980s.

Marzieh Farsi, 58, is the mother of two and the sister of the martyred MEK member Hassan Farsi, who was hanged in the 1988 massacre. Her brother and two sisters are also in Ashraf 3. She was arrested on August 21, 2023, in Tehran. She had previously been arrested in February 2020 on charges of communicating and cooperating with the MEK and released in March 2023.

On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, the regime’s hangmen executed Mohammad Reza Habibian in Babol. Habibian, who was fed up with the regime’s looting and corruption, had killed Abbas Ali Soleimani, a member of the Assembly of Experts and former representative of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the Sistan and Baluchestan province, in Babolsar in May 2023.

Today, December 13, 2023, Davoud Khadem was executed in Sanandaj, and on December 12, 2023, Amin Zakeri Kakavand, Khalil Haji Abadi, Rahim Amiri, and Hamid Esmaili were executed in Karaj, and Ali Babaei was executed in Shirvan. On December 9, 2023, Abdulbasit Gorgij, Abdulaziz Shahli Bar, Ehsan Mahmoudzehi, and another prisoner were executed in Zahedan, and Abbas Ketabci and Mehdi Nasiri were executed in Qom. On December 8, 2023, Ali Shahin Nejad, Solat Tousan, and Janali Nadimi were executed in Urmia. On December 6, 2023, Khaled Rouhi and Sirous Heydari were executed in Sanandaj, Kamal Elhami was executed in Saqqez, and Zabihullah Arjmand was executed in Dehdasht. On December 4, 2023, Sadegh Azhdar was executed in Yasuj, and Amir Alikhani was executed in Rafsanjan.

The religious fascism ruling Iran is futilely trying to suppress the rebellious youth and the uprisings that lie ahead with repression, executions, and massacres. The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations, the European Union, and the member states and relevant international bodies to strongly condemn these executions and criminal sentences, and to allow an international fact-finding mission to visit Iranian prisons and meet with prisoners, particularly political prisoners and those sentenced to death.
