Iran: COVID-19 death toll at 518,800

· Ahvaz Medical University: Compared to a month ago, tens and maybe hundreds of families in Khuzestan are not with us and died during this outbreak. (ISNA, March 6, 2022)

 

· Nader Tavakoli, the deputy head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) in Tehran: The COVID-19 mortality rate is still high. Out of 2,900 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Tehran, 1000 are in ‌‌‌ICU. (ISNA news agency, March 6, 2022)

 

· Shiraz Medical University: More than 20% of COVID-19 hospitalized cases are children. (ISNA, March 6, 2022)

 

· The NCC headquarters in Kermanshah: Coronavirus deaths in Kermanshah have risen to double digits again. Currently, there are 351 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the province, 119 in ICU, of which 21 are in critical condition. (ISNA, March 6, 2022)

 

“Iran is one of the countries with the highest rates of COVID-19 infections and mortality,” the state-run daily, Mostaghel wrote today. The daily adds: “Iran ranks 10th in the Coronavirus World Rankings, indicating that new strains of the virus have surpassed existing vaccines, and Omicron continues to spread at an extraordinary rate. Iran did not succeed in controlling the disease in the first outbreak, and so far, six Coronavirus outbreaks have spread in the country, and warnings about the seventh outbreak in the spring of next year have risen.”

 

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Sunday, March 6, 2022, that the Coronavirus death toll in 547 cities surpassed 518,800. The number of victims in Tehran has passed 121,855, Khorasan Razavi 41,515, Isfahan 36,090, Khuzestan 31,180, Fars 19,980, West Azerbaijan 19,558, Mazandaran 18,520, East Azerbaijan 17,978, Lorestan 16,885, Alborz 15,168, Sistan and Baluchestan 14,225, Kerman 14,172, Golestan 11,125, Kermanshah 9,734, Central Province 9,403, Hormozgan 8,595, Yazd 8,548, Kurdistan 8,472, Ardabil 6,681, Qazvin 6,223, Bushehr 5,779, South Khorasan 4,661, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 4,020.
