Evidence of Assassination of Fugitive Judge by Iranian Regime No Motive for Suicide

All evidence suggests that the fugitive cleric and former Iranian judiciary official and judge, Gholamreza Mansouri, who was under arrest and investigation in Romania, has been assassinated by the Iranian regime’s intelligence services using their signature methods.

His death is similar to the serial killings carried out by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) during the 1990s and later, and the subsequent elimination of perpetrators such as Saeid Emami and Massoud Dalili. It also resembles the assassination of Massoud Molavi in Turkey on November 14, 2019. Reuters reported on April 2, 2020, that two intelligence officers at the Iranian regime’s consulate in Istanbul had directed the assassination of Molavi. Hesam-addin Ashena, Rouhani’s adviser and former deputy Minister of Intelligence and Security pointed to the setup of Saeed Emami’s “suicide” in referring to Gholamreza Mansouri’s death in his Twitter account.

An hour after Mansouri’s death, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) quickly quoted an “international affairs expert” as saying, “We need to look for clues in this case at the counter-revolutionaries and hypocrites [pejorative name used by the regime in referring to its main opposition, the MEK] who suffered injuries from Judge Mansouri.” The speedy discovery of virtual “clues” is reminiscent of how quickly Khamenei falsely attributed the explosion at a holy shrine for Imam Reza in Mashad on June 20, 1994, to Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/PMOI), only an hour after the incident.

The Security and Counter-Terrorism Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) issued statements on June 13, 16, and 18, revealing the IRGC’s plot concerning Gholamreza Mansouri. It stated, “As a result of the crisis created by [international] sanctions and the Coronavirus [epidemic], the infighting within the clerical regime over Khamenei’s succession is climaxing, and new members and agents [of the regime] will be expended.”
