CFDI Calls on UN to Stop Execution of Iranian Political Prisoner

In a letter to United Nations High Human Rights Commissioner Volker Turk, the Canadian Friends of Democratic Iran, a parliamentary group of the Canadian Parliament urgently calls on the UN to intervene and prevent the execution of 27-year-old boxing champion, Mohammad Javad Vafai, in Mashhad, Iran.

The letter highlights the alarming increase in executions in Iran, with over 400 reported this year, and draws parallels with the case of the executed athlete Navid Afkari. The appeal requests international pressure to halt the execution and end the cycle of violence. A copy of the letter has been sent to Hon. Melanie Joly, Minister of Global Affairs of Canada, for their attention.
