Fearing Uprisings, Iran’s Regime Erects Gallows Across Cities as 26 Are Executed in One Week

Iran: Gallows Erected in Various Cities in Fear of Uprisings; At Least 26 Executions in One Week
Execution of two prisoners on espionage charges
Regime’s judiciary has failed to announce the execution of Arvin Kheirkhahan and his case details for three days
Beset by domestic and international crises and in fear of a flare-up of uprisings, the inhuman regime relentlessly continues its brutal executions. Recorded executions in one week (July 28 to August 3) amount to at least 26 prisoners, though the actual number of executions is much higher.
Today, Monday, August 3, the regime’s judiciary announced the executions of Omid Behzad and Pouria Safvat on charges of “espionage and intelligence cooperation with Israel.”
While henchmen hanged Arvin Kheirkhahan, one of those arrested during the January uprising, in Shahroud at dawn on Saturday, August 1, the regime’s judiciary has failed to announce his execution or any details of his case for unknown reasons, keeping silent for three days as of Monday noon, August 3.
On Saturday, August 1, six other prisoners were also executed: Baluch compatriots Mohammad Ali Narouei and Mohammad Bakhsh Shahbakhsh in Damghan; Farzad Feizi and Hasan Mousavi (30) in Shiraz; and Mohammad Davoudi and Esmail Aghaei in Semnan. Prior to this, Alijan Geravand was hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison on Thursday, July 30.
On Wednesday, July 29, ten prisoners were hanged: Seyyed Ahmad Tabatabaei Zavareh and Hasan Khalili in Ghezel Hesar; Nader Abil and four other prisoners in Taybad; Ezzat Kazemzadeh (33) in Gorgan; Sina Bahrami (22) in Urmia; and Farzad Sobhani (19), who was only 16 years old at the time of the alleged offense.
On Tuesday, July 28, in addition to the rebellious youths Abolfazl Sepahi and Amir Hossein Safari, four other prisoners were executed: Amir Ali Soleimani (31) and Mokhtar Alizadeh (29) in Isfahan; Ali Rasouli in Hamadan; and one prisoner in Ghezel Hesar.
Additionally, Eshaq Sistani in Ferdows and Ehsan Mar’ei in Mashhad were executed on July 27; Shamsuddin Afshari and Faraj Yahyaei (28) in Zanjan on July 26; and Amir Abbas Hatami, Javad Mirhosseini (33) in Gonbad-e Kavus, and Sardar Qaderi (30) in Urmia on July 25.
The Iranian Resistance once again calls for immediate and effective UN action to halt the wave of executions in Iran and emphasizes the urgent necessity for an international fact-finding mission to visit Iranian prisons and meet with inmates, particularly political prisoners.
