The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign has entered its 107th consecutive week, continuing simultaneously in 56 prisons across Iran, as alarming new information reveals a sharp escalation in executions and repression by Iran’s ruling theocracy in the aftermath of the January 2026 uprising.
According to the campaign’s latest statement, the regime’s security and intelligence forces responded to the nationwide protests with extreme violence, mass arrests, and systematic psychological and physical abuse aimed at extracting forced confessions from detainees.
“According to news and information obtained during the glorious January uprising, the repressive agents of the mullahs’ regime, in addition to the thousands of innocent human beings they massacred, have arrested tens of thousands of Iranian people and youths and subjected a large number of them to physical and psychological pressures to extract forced confessions.”

Arrests Extend to Medical and Legal Professionals
The statement highlights a significant expansion of repression beyond protesters and political activists. In what the campaign describes as a sign of deepening fear within the ruling establishment, security forces have begun targeting professionals traditionally seen as outside direct political confrontation.
“In line with increasing the atmosphere of repression and public intimidation, the executioner regime has proceeded to arrest a number of lawyers, physicians, and medical staff, which indicates its increasing terror of the people’s courageous uprising last January.”
Human rights observers warn that the arrest of legal and medical professionals represents a dangerous escalation, aimed at dismantling any remaining support structures for detainees and silencing potential witnesses to abuse inside prisons.

207 Executions in Three Weeks
The scale of executions reported in the statement underscores the regime’s growing reliance on capital punishment as a tool of political control.
“The ruling despotic regime has executed more than 207 individuals, including 2 women, in the first 3 weeks of the month of Bahman (starting January 21) alone,” the campaign’s statement warns.
In addition to those already executed, the statement warns that hundreds, possibly thousands, of detainees remain at imminent risk of death sentences, many of them held anonymously and without due process.

Kurdish Political Prisoner Faces Third Death Sentence
Among the most urgent cases cited is that of Kurdish political prisoner.
“In the past few days, Kurdish political prisoner Naser Bekrzadeh has been sentenced to death for the third time and is in serious danger of the execution of the sentence,” the prisoners warned in their statement.
Human rights advocates emphasize that repeated death sentencing highlights the arbitrary nature of Iran’s judicial system and the regime’s use of execution as a means of intimidation rather than justice.

A Campaign Against State Terror
The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, now active for more than two years, has become one of the most sustained organized protests inside Iran’s prison system. Its continuation amid escalating repression reflects both the severity of the crisis and the persistence of resistance against the regime’s execution-driven governance.
As executions accelerate and repression deepens, the campaign’s organizers warn that silence from the international community will only embolden Tehran’s authorities to expand what they describe as a system of state-sanctioned terror.
