In a growing act of defiance against the clerical regime’s execution machinery, political and ordinary prisoners across 40 Iranian prisons joined the 64th week of the “No to Executions Tuesday” campaign on April 15, 2025. The protest, marked by coordinated hunger strikes, now includes new participants from the women’s ward of Zahedan Prison and Azbaram Prison in Lahijan.

Prisoners continue to protest the lack of fair trials and the regime’s use of the death penalty as a tool of political repression. The campaign calls on international human rights organizations to amplify the voices of those condemned without due process.

As Iran’s prisons turn into centers of resistance, the regime’s brutality only fuels deeper dissent across a society already primed for rebellion.

A translated version of the campaign’s statement follows:

64th “No to Executions on Tuesdays” Campaign Expands to 40 Prisons
With the women’s ward of Zahedan Prison and the Azbaram Prison in Lahijan joining the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign, this grassroots protest has now expanded to 40 prisons in its 64th week.

The clerical regime, cornered by deepening domestic and international crises, has intensified executions as part of its routine method to prevent public uprisings. On just two days—April 8 and 9, 2025—the regime executed 11 and 18 prisoners, respectively.

Execution of Five Sunni Prisoners in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad

Among those executed were five Sunni political and ideological prisoners: Malek Ali Fadaeinejad, Farhad Shakeri, Taj Mohammad Khormaly, Abdolrahman Gorgij, and Abdolhakim Azim Gorgij, all hanged after enduring 10 years of imprisonment and torture.

Additionally, on the morning of Monday, April 14, a 22-year-old Baluchi prisoner named Ali Dehani was executed in Zahedan Central Prison. He had been arrested during the nationwide protests of November 2022, following the brutal massacre of nearly 100 civilians during Bloody Friday in Zahedan and Khash. Dehani was accused of killing four regime agents in Bampur, but was executed without access to a fair trial.

A juvenile offender named Behzad, who was under the legal age at the time of his alleged crime, was also hanged in Gonbad-e Kavus Prison.

Between April 8 and April 14, at least 18 Baluchi prisoners were executed.

The growing scale of egregious human rights violations in Iran serves as a stark warning to the global community and international human rights organizations: silence and inaction in the face of this brutal regime only lead to more deaths among innocent prisoners and the oppressed Iranian people.

The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign, now present in 40 prisons thanks to the recent participation of women prisoners in Zahedan and inmates in Azbaram Prison in Lahijan, continues to resist the inhuman punishment of execution with every resource at its disposal. The campaign calls on all international human rights and political institutions to raise the voice of the people and prisoners of Iran. Dozens of political and ideological prisoners, and thousands of inmates with ordinary charges, are currently under execution sentences without having had even the most basic right to a fair trial.

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the 64th week of the “No to Executions” campaign will see prisoners go on hunger strike in the following 40 prisons:
