Iran News: IRGC-Quds Force Secret Meeting Held in Syria to Combat Security Breaches

On April 25, Al-Arabiya reported that clandestine sessions were held by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Quds Force in Syria aimed at uncovering infiltrators. According to media outlets in Syria, the Iranian regime’s forces stationed in the country, in conjunction with Afghan forces allied with Tehran and commanders of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), held a meeting in the city of Albu Kamal, Syria, to counter security breaches and prevent the leakage of sensitive information.
During the meeting, it was proposed to offer financial rewards to individuals providing information on spies and security infiltrators. Tehran’s concerns over the leakage of sensitive information regarding its activities in Syria have escalated following the deaths of at least seven IRGC members in an attack attributed to Israel on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus.
According to sources cited by “Al-Sharq Al-Awsat,” security infiltration and espionage have played a significant role in the success of Israel’s targeted attacks in Syria. The report added that Syrian government forces are considered a security weakness for the Iranian regime, and Tehran’s efforts to combat information leaks, especially in “land supply routes,” have intensified.

Most Syrian government forces are primarily motivated by financial gain, with checkpoint commanders often keeping a significant portion of the profits for themselves. This behavior has sparked heightened competition for more money, resulting in elevated security risks.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported, citing its sources, that the Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria has granted its commanders and officials in military bases in Deir Ezzor, as well as officials of Iranian cultural centers in the cities of Deir Ezzor, Albu Kamal, Al Mayadeen, and the Hezbollah neighborhood, a week-long leave due to concerns over Israeli attacks.
On April 24, Agence France-Presse reported, “Iran has reduced its military footprint in Syria after a succession of strikes blamed on Israel, a source close to Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah and a war monitor said Wednesday.”
