On Monday, December 5, marking the 81st day of the uprising, people staged nightly protests with anti-government slogans and lighting fires in the streets in different parts of Tehran and dozens of cities.

In various areas of Tehran, including Yaftabad, Sattar Khan, Sadeghieh Metro, Haft Hoz, Shariati Metro, Niayesh Highway, Shariati Street, Ekbatan, Towhid Metro, Jannat Abad, Valiasr, Tehranpars, Seyed Khandan, Chitgar, Marzdaran, Jordan, etc. people staged protest rallies. In Narmak, locals chanted, “We haven’t sacrificed our best to appease the murderous [Khamenei]!”. In Ekbatan, locals chanted, “Death to the dictator (referring to Ali Khamenei), death to IRGC,” and “This year is the year of sacrifice; Seyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown,” and lit a fire. In the Towhid subway station, people chanted, “Khamenei is a murderer; his rule is illegitimate,” and in the Shariati subway, people chanted, “This is the last message; the regime itself is the target.” On Niayesh highway, aiming at Khamenei, youths chanted, “You are the murderer.” “Death to Khamenei” was chanted in Shariati, Varamin and Sattar Khan streets. In some areas of Tehran, suppressive forces attacked protesters, and people confronted them by shouting, “Shame on you, Shame on you,”.

In the cities of Zanjan, Cheram (Kohkiloyeh and Boyer Ahmad), Mashhad, Ilam, Isfahan, Varamin, Karaj, Shiraz, Amol, Kuzaran, Dehgolan, Marivan, Hamedan, Arak, Saqez, Qazvin, Rudsar (Gilan Province), Malek Shahr of Isfahan, Padel of Bandar Abbas, Rasht, Javanrud (Kermanshah Province), Ilam, Khorasgan (Isfahan Province), Rafsanjan, Fuladshahr (Isfahan Province), Fardis, Bushehr, Hanguyeh Hormozgan, Marleek, Bandar Abbas, Masjed Soleyman, etc. people took to the streets early evening and staged protest rallies. In many cities, including, Kuzaran of Kermanshah, people set up roadblocks by lighting fires and throwing handmade Molotov cocktails. In Javanrud, youths engaged in hit-and-run clashes with the suppressive State Security Force (SSF). In Hamedan, youths created roadblocks by burning tires and chanting, “Death to the dictator (referring to Ali Khamenei”.

Merchants and shopkeepers in 45 districts of Tehran and at least 85 other cities went on strike in solidarity with the uprising. In Tehran, carpet, iron, Cheraqbargh, and spare parts bazaars, and shops in Lalehzar, Arya Shahr, Dowlat Abad, Tehran Grand Bazaar, Sattar Khan, Abdul Abad, Tehran Gate, Sa’adi Street, Ala’eddin Bazaar, Bagh-e Sepahsalar, sanitary supplies market, Amin Hozoor, Elahiyeh district of Tehran, Ferdowsi Square, Nazi Abad, Gandhi St., Valiasr, Afsariyeh, Azadi, Ekbatan, Tajrish, Ekhtiarieh, Takhti intersection, Kakh St., Sohrevardi, Naser Khosrow, Gharb township, Kourosh Passage, Velenjak Passage, Zafaranieh Passage, Tirajeh Passage in Ashrafi St., Sanaz Passage in Andarzgoo, Shahr Ara, Tehransar, Narmak, Sirus intersection, Payambar-e Gharbi St., Ostad Moein, the second phase of Golha, Istanbul Crossroads, Roshandelan, Molavi.

In cities of Tabriz, Kermanshah, Sanandaj, Baneh, Saqez, Kazerun (Fars Province), Bandar Anzali, Shiraz, Arak, Urmia, Zarghan Fars, Chabahar, Now Bandian (Baluchestan), Sarablah (Ilam), Paveh, Ardabil, Javanrud, Dehgolan, Divandarreh, Kerman, Sabzevar, Karaj, Yazdanshahr, Marivan, Shahr-e Kord, Dorud (Lorestan Province), Marvdasht (Fars Province), Ilam, Najaf Abad, Isfahan, Bukan, Ashnavieh (West Azerbaijan Province), Zarinshahr (Isfahan Province), Jam (Bushehr), Shahryar, Bushehr, Zarin Dasht (Fars Province), Bojnurd (North Khorasan Province), Bandar Ganaveh (Bushehr Province), Mashhad, Bandar Abbas, Neyshabur (Razavi Khorasan Province), Borujen (Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province), Shahr-e Ray, Sari, Dashtyar (Sistan and Baluchestan Province), Fardis Karaj, Dezful (Khuzestan Province), Hamadan, Shahin Shahr (Isfahan Province), Lordegan (Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province), Behbahan, Hafshejan (Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province), Qorveh (Kurdistan Province), Kamyaran (Kurdistan Province), Eslamshahr, Lahijan (Gilan Province), Ur (Fars Province), Ravansar (Kermanshah Province), Eslamabad-e-Gharb (Kermanshah Province), Rasht, Garmsār (southeast of Tehran), Koozaran (Kermanshah Province), Kangavar (Kermanshah Province), Abdanan (Ilam Province), Kani Dinar (Kurdistan Province), Behshahr (Mazandaran Province), Babol, Alvand (Qazvin), Qazvin, Borujerd (Western Iran), Khomeyn (Markazi Province), Khorramshahr, Izeh, Gachsaran (Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province), Mobarakeh (Isfahan Province), Zahedan, Takab (West Azerbaijan Province), Lar (Fars Province), Saveh (Southwest of Tehran), Shahreza (Isfahan Province), Yazd, Farsan (Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province), Falavarjan (Isfahan Province), Gilanegharb (Kermanshah Province), merchants stopped working despite the regime’s intimidations and joined the strike. In Eslamshahr, defiant youths set ablaze a banner depicting Khamenei’s image and Basij symbols.

On Monday, students staged their sit-ins, strikes, and protests and chanted “We shall fight and We shall take Iran back” in 34 universities, including the National University, Sharif, Tehran’s central campus, Azad Tehran West, Azad Tehran North, Amir Kabir, Economics Faculty, Science and Technology, Azad Tabriz, Azad Najaf Abad, Azad Mashhad, Shiraz Dentistry, Razi Kermanshah, Azad Ahvaz, Azad Homayoun Shahr, Azad Shahr-e Kord, Azad Shahr Qods, Payam Noor Ravansar, Beheshti Technical College of Karaj, Vocational Technical College for Girls in Kermanshah, the University of Technology in Isfahan, Faculty of Literature, Isfahan University, Mohajer Isfahan, Azad Khorasgan, Isfahan Medical Sciences, Medical Sciences Shiraz, Azad Eslamshahr, Qom, Elementary Sciences of Kurdistan, Kermanshah Vocational Technician, Ferdowsi Mashhad, Shariati Shiraz, and Shiraz Engineering System.

Truckers and drivers of Qom, Kashan, Shapour, Isfahan, Salas-e Babajani (Kermanshah Province), Javanrud, Sanandaj, Mashhad, and Dehgolan joined the nationwide strike. Workers of Mahshahr and Sanandaj petrochemical, Isfahan Cement factory, and Bandar Abbas Aluminum Company went on strike.

On Monday, families of detainees gathered outside Evin Prison despite snowfall, seeking the whereabouts of their loved ones.
