Call for action to rescue death row prisoners,
Refer human rights abuses to the UN Security Council, hold regime leaders accountable
On the morning of Wednesday, February 17, 2021, the clerical regime hanged seven prisoners in Gohardasht Prison in Karaj. Among the prisoners was Zahra Esmaili, 42, a mother of two who had been transferred from Qarchak prison to Gohardasht.

The regime also hanged two Baluch prisoners in Birjand Central Prison on Monday. Another prisoner was executed in Meshkinshahr Prison on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Thus, in just five days, 10 prisoners have been executed in different cities.

In the midst of incurable domestic and international crises, the clerical regime has stepped up torture and executions, as its only way out. In the face of popular outrage and protests, this regime will not survive even for a day without repression and execution.

The Iranian Resistance again urges the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Security Council, as well as all human rights organizations to take urgent action to save the lives of death row prisoners and to send an international delegation to visit Iranian prisons and meet with prisoners, especially those on death row. The case of appalling and systematic human rights abuses in Iran must be referred to the UN Security Council, and the leaders of the Iranian regime must be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity.
