Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 522 Cities Exceeds 237,400

Health Ministry acknowledged none of regime’s promises about COVID-19 vaccines have been fulfilled
Kianoush Jahanpour, Health Ministry’s public relations: 2.8 million COVID-19 vaccines that were due for delivery before March 20, 2021 (the last day of the Iranian calendar year) were not delivered. Out of one million doses of Russian vaccines, only 420,000 were delivered. Co-production of the Sputnik-V vaccine in Iran was delayed. 375,000 doses of vaccines that were due for delivery from India were not delivered and 1.3 million people were not vaccinated. The Deputy head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) in Tehran: COVID-19 Hospitalizations have increased by 15% and mortality rate has surged in the past two weeks. (Hamshahri daily, March 25, 2021)
Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences: 25% of deaths in Khuzestan had spent less than a day in hospital. Most of them died either on the way to the medical centers or between one to two hours after being admitted to the centers. (IRNA news agency, March 25, 2021)
Qom University of Medical Sciences: Yesterday, 34% of PCR tests in Qom were positive, while this number was less than 8% in previous weeks. (Mehr news agency, March 25, 2021)
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Thursday, March 25, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 522 cities across Iran had surpassed 237,400. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 55,151, Khorasan Razavi 15,445, Isfahan 15,420, Khuzestan 13,669, Mazandaran 10,135, Lorestan 10,013, East Azerbaijan 9,318, Qom 8,635, Alborz 5,898, Hamedan 5,468, Semnan 4,045, Qazvin 2,689, Hormozgan 2,620, Bushehr 2,409, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 1,915, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 1,809.
