Political prisoners in Gohardasht prison resist henchmen’s onslaught

Over 60 regime agents attacked political prisoners at Gohardasht prison on Thursday to intimidate them after the execution of one of their cellmates, Ali Saremi, who was hanged last Tuesday.

The attack and beatings were ordered by Ali Haj Kazem, the prison warden, and his deputy, Ali Mohammadi. It was meant to “punish” the prisoners for their decision to hold a memorial ceremony for Mr. Saremi.

But, Ward 1 inmates at Gohardasht prison, most of whom are on death row, collectively resisted the attack and while defending themselves, forced the regime’s agents to retreat.
