Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 347 Cities Exceeds 77,000
Over 77,000 dead of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iran-Iran Coronavirus Death Toll per PMOI MEK sources
• Iraj Harirchi, regime’s Deputy Health Minister: The situation is not good at all. Almost, the entire country is red. Tehran serves as the epicenter of transmitting the virus to the whole country.
• Director of Imam-Reza Hospital in Islamshahr: We have a lot of patients in the emergency ward; we have no place to hospitalize them. We have a lot of critically ill patients, which no other hospital in Tehran accepts them.
• Isfahan University of Medical Sciences: [Due to lack of ICU beds] in Khorshid Hospital, we had to choose between a 50-year-old patient to be transferred to the ICU, and a 70-year-old to stay and die.
• The number of Coronavirus patients in Babol has surged six times the figure for two months ago.
• Masih Mohajeri, chief editor of the state-run daily, Jomhuri-Eslami, and former aide to Rafsanjani and Khatami (Ex-regime Presidents): Rouhani’s decision to hold the holy month of Moharram’s ceremonies will bring about disastrous autumn.
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/ MEK) announced on Sunday, July 26, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 347 cities across Iran had passed 77,000. The number of victims in Tehran is 19,050, Khorasan Razavi 5,755, Khuzestan 5585, Mazandaran 3,495, Alborz 2,425, Fars 1,930, Kerman 1,110, Hormozgan 940, and Bushehr 835.
The spokesperson for the Health Ministry announced that the number of victims in the past 24 hours was 216, and the number of patients in Intensive Care Units (ICU) stood at 3,695. She told ISNA, “Two cities of Isfahan Province are red, and 11 cities are in the alert situation. The number of Coronavirus hospitalizations in Isfahan, especially in crowded cities, is increasing. In Tehran Province, nine cities are on alert, and the daily number of hospitalizations in this Province has doubled in the past month. In the cities of Tehran, Pakdasht, Damavand, and Shahriyar, the number of hospitalizations is relatively steep; In Tehran Province, half of the adult ICUs are occupied by Coronavirus patients. Our most important concern is the illness and fatigue among the medical staff.”
Iraj Harirchi, deputy Health Minister, told Entekhab daily today, “The situation is not good at all… Nearly the entire country is in red… Hospitalizations were decreasing in March. Now, we have 600 hospitalizations every day. In Tehran, we have approximately 4,500 beds available for hospitalization. It must be noted that so long as this trend rises, deaths will also increase. Coronavirus is a test of our actions. Any inappropriate hygienic behavior shows itself 5 to 7 days later in the number of outpatients, two or three weeks later in hospitalization, and four to six weeks later in deaths. Now, Tehran is turned into the source for transmitting the virus to the whole country. There are lots of commutes, especially in cities around Tehran, like Alborz and the northern cities… Anyone traveling from Tehran to surrounding cities could infect others.”
In Tehran, the head of Islamshahr’s Imam Reza Hospital told Fars news agency yesterday, “Three wards of the hospital are full. There are many patients in emergency whom we cannot hospitalize. We have many very sick people. Not hospital in Tehran accepts these patients.” The head of Islamshahr’s health and treatment network said, “In March, seven percent, in April, 14 percent, and in June, 26 percent tested positive. In July, 30 percent have tested positive. The continuation of this trend will be very dangerous.”
In East Azerbaijan, the director of Ahar Health Network told IRNA today, “The number of patients in Ahar during the past month has increased by more than 250%, and the number of hospitalizations has increased by 400% … So far, the capacity of all wards of Ahar Hospital for Coronavirus patients has been fully occupied.”
According to IRNA reporting from Mazandaran yesterday, “The number of Coronavirus patients in Babol has increased more than six times since its peak two months ago. To stop the increasing trend of hospitalization, restrictions have been imposed in Babol, but it has failed to reverse the trend.”
According to FARS news agency, the public relations department of Shiraz Medical University of Sciences reported the death of 17 patients in the past 24 hours, saying it was “the highest daily mortality rate in the Province since the outbreak started.”
Javan daily reported from Hormozgan today, “Four hundred Coronavirus patients are hospitalized, 90 of whom are in the ICUs, and 30 are in critical condition. All areas of the Province are in critical and high-risk conditions, especially in the west of the Province and the islands of Qeshm and Kish.”
Following Rouhani’s statement yesterday that “the holy Moharram ceremonies must be held in every city and village regardless of their situation being red, yellow or virus-free,” Massih Mohajeri, Chief editor of Jomhuri-Eslami daily and advisor to Rafsanjani and Khatami during their presidency, wrote in the newspaper’s editorial today, “Mr. President as the commander of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT), you are responsible for the lives of the people. It is quite clear that the new decisions of the NCCT will inflict the same disaster on the people that the lifting of the Coronavirus restrictions has brought. Think of the bitter reality that with these decisions, dark autumn awaits our country.”
