IRAN: Widespread Attest of Residents of Lordegan and Surrounding Areas to Prevent the Continuation and Expansion of the Uprising

To prevent the continuation and expansion of the uprising by the residents of Lordegan that erupted from October 2 to October 6, 2019, the religious dictatorship ruling Iran has resorted to the widespread and indiscriminate arrest of the residents and neighboring areas and villages.

It has particularly concentrated on arresting young people. Some of the arrests have occurred during night-time raids on people’s homes.

The arrests, which began last week, continue. On Thursday, October 10, the suppressive forces raided the Monjermo’i village and arrested a number of the villagers.

In another inhumane measure, the regime has dragged a number of those wounded from their hospital beds to prison. Many of the wounded are refraining from going to hospitals.

A large number of the Revolutionary Guards, the Basijis, intelligence agents and plainclothes agents have been stationed in Lordegan and neighboring areas to maintain control.

The Iranian Resistance urged all the residents as well as the young people in Lordegan and Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province and neighboring towns and regions to support the people of Lordegan and those arrested. It also calls on the United Nations Secretary-General, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Human Rights Council and related agencies, as well as human rights, advocates to condemn the Iranian regime’s suppressive actions in Lordegan and undertake urgent measures to secure the release of those arrests.
