Mrs. Ashraf Alsadat Mortezayee, Marzieh, the Diva of Persian music and icon of the ?Iranian art, passed away at the age of 86 at noon today, following a long and relentless ?battle against cancer.?
Marzieh, a popular singer with 60 years of outstanding performance, was advisor to the ?President-elect of the Iranian Resistance on arts, and a member of the National Council of ?Resistance of Iran. She was a formidable supporter and longstanding friend of freedom ?seeking residents of Ashraf.?
Marzieh stood up firm against the clerical regime and despite all cruelties against her ?and her family by the regime she did not cave in and continued with her activities in ?support of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran and fought for Iranian people’s ?freedom. ?
The National Council of Resistance of Iran expresses its sincere condolences for the loss ?of this great lady to the people of Iran, her honorable family, colleagues in the NCRI, ?PMOI members and residents of Ashraf and in particular to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, ?President-elect of the Iranian Resistance. ?
Her funeral and memorial ceremony will be announced in due course.?
