Iranian Resistance’s Words Echo People’s Desire To Disband IRGC, Regime Officials Express Fear

A recent interview by one of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) officials on state television reflects the social and political realities of the Iranian society.

During his interview on state television on September 21, Abolfazl Shekarchi, the senior spokesperson and the cultural and deputy of the staff of the regime’s armed forces, when asked about the overlap between the work of the IRGC and the official army, said: “Defending the ideologic frontiers of the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Revolution is not only the duty of all institutions, organs, and even the army but the ‘natural mission’ of the IRGC.”

Mr. Massoud Rajavi the Iranian Resistance leader, had earlier called for the IRGC to be disbanded and for its budget to be allocated to helping Iranian people, particularly amid the coronavirus outbreak and its rising death toll. According to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), more than 110,000 people have died as of Saturday, September 26, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the regime’s inaction.

IRGC Designation Sends Iran Regime Into FreefallThe Iranian regime created the IRGC to pursue its warmongering policies abroad and oppress any voice of dissent inside Iran. In a nutshell, the IRGC’s mission is to protect the mullahs’ regime from collapsing. In this regard, when one of the participants asked him where these “ideological frontiers” are and how they compare with the geographical borders of the country, Shekarchi said: “The IRGC has an internal mission too. We must confront the MEK.”

The Iranian Resistance leader’s call for the IRGC to be disbanded is the Iranian people’s desire, who have suffered at the hands of this murderous gang.

Mr. Rajavi, addressing the regime’s officials, had said: “If you do not intend to crack down on the public, stoke wars and export terrorism, one army should be sufficient for you. Do not impose the astronomical expenses of the IRGC on the people of Iran. Dissolve the IRGC and spend the money used for its expenses on health and medical care instead, and pay the salaries of nurses, workers, teachers and public sector employees.”

 

The IRGC and the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, exclusively own the most impactful and profitable sectors of Iran’s industries, mines, communications, banks, and construction companies. Their wealth surpasses one trillion dollars. Every year, due to pervasive corruption and plundering in the mullahs’ regime and the IRGC, tens of billions of dollars are taken out of the country.

The IRGC carried out the crackdown on the major Iran protests in November 2019. IRGC forces killed over 1500 protesters in broad daylight during these protests. The IRGC also played a key role during the Iran-Iraq war. One of the IRGC’s crimes during the war was sending students and minors on the minefields to sweep the mines. IRGC commanders called these innocent children “one-time soldiers.” In addition, the IRGC’s terrorist Quds Force has been spreading chaos and terrorism across the region.

The protests by the people of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon against the regime’s deadly presence in their countries are testaments to the IRGC’s destructive role. The IRGC plunders the national wealth to implement the regime’s warmongering policies. For this reason, the Iranian people chanted during their protests: “Leave Syria alone, think of us instead,” and “No to Gaza, no to Lebanon, my life only for Iran.”

While people are grappling with poverty, the IRGC unveiled two new ballistic missiles on August 20. The regime’s president, Hassan Rouhani, who has been trying to blame international sanctions for Iran’s economic crisis while praising the IRGC, said: “Cruise missiles are of special importance to us. Today we must mobilize all our powers to build cruise missiles. A cruise missile has many advantages and can disguise itself, take a safe route, and can hit the target more accurately.”

In addition, on May 20 In an interview with the state-run Etemad Online news agency, a former member of the regime’s Parliament, acknowledged how the mullahs’ regime been wasting national wealth to fund Syrian dictator Bashar-al Assad. “When I went to Syria, some complained that I had caused expenses, but I will say this again: We may have given $20-30 billion to Syria. The money of our people was spent there,” Falahatpisheh said.

These facts once again underline the need for the international community to support the Iranian people’s desire and internationally designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization and call for its disbanding.
