Iran: Mass Demonstrations in Zahedan in Fourth Month of Uprising

On Friday, December 16, in the fourth month of the uprising, thousands of people in Zahedan staged demonstrations after the Friday prayers and chanted “Death to Khamenei,” “Death to IRGC, death to Basij,” “Basij agent must be killed either by gun or punch,” “Basij and IRGC are the same as ISIS,” “This year, is a year of sacrifice, Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown,” “I will kill the one who killed my brother,” “Political prisoners must be released,” and “Shame on Khamenei, let go of the country.”

The brave women of Zahedan were chanting “Death to clerical rule,” “Death to child-killer rulers,” and “For every fallen person, one thousand would rise.” Demonstrators carried placards reading “Dictator! What happened to women’s status?” which was in reference to the expulsion of the regime from the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

Students staged a protest in Kermanshah chanting “Poverty, corruption, high prices, we are going for the regime’s overthrow.” In Dehgolan, the 7th-day ceremony of Shadman Ahmadi’s martyrdom was held participants chanting “Death to Khamenei.”

On Friday, the funeral ceremony of Dr. Aida Rostami was held in Gorgan. He was a resident of Tehran’s Ekbatan township, who secretly treated those wounded in attacks by the suppressive agents. He was identified by the security agencies of the regime. On Monday, December 12, he disappeared after finishing his work at Chamran Hospital. His family had to collect his corpse from the morgue the following day and take it to his hometown, Gorgan. In the forensic medical certificate, the cause of death was mentioned as “collision with a hard object.”

In Tehran, the ceremony of the 40th day of the martyrdom of Ali Rozbahani was held in Behesht Zahra cemetery. The participants honored his memory with slogans such as “We pledge to the martyrs, Ali, Mohsen, and other comrades, to fight on” and “For every fallen person, one thousand would rise.” His family vowed to continue Ali’s path until the end.

Last night, young people in Tehran held nightly demonstrations in Sattarkhan, Qolhak, Parand and Chitgar townships and chanted “This year, is a year of sacrifice, Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown,” “Death to the principle of the absolute rule of clergy,” “Poverty, corruption, high prices, we are going for the regime’s overthrow,” “We pledge to the blood of our comrades – we will stand until the end” and “This is the final warning, the entire regime is the target.”

On Thursday, Tehran residents went in groups to the burial site of Mohsen Shekari in Behesht Zahra cemetery and laid flowers despite the massive presence of the suppressive agents. In Karaj, the ceremony of the 40th day of martyrdom of Mehdi Hazrati, a 17-year-old teenager, was held in Behesht Ali cemetery despite the presence of suppressive forces. The security organs of the regime prevented the martyr’s family from attending this ceremony.

On Thursday, the body of martyr Donya Farhadi, a 21-year-old girl from Izeh, was found on the bank of the Karun River in Ahvaz. She was a student activist in Ahvaz who was studying architecture and was kidnapped by the suppressive forces 9 days ago.

Also, the ceremony of the 40th day of martyrdom of Alireza Karimi from West Islamabad was held on Thursday in the city’s cemetery, Bagh-e Rezvan, with participants chanting “Death to the child-killer rulers,” “Death to the damned rulers” and “Death to the dictator.”

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), saluted the Baluch compatriots, especially the brave pioneering women of Zahedan, who in the fourth month of the uprising, stressed protesting until the regime’s overthrow by seeking justice for the martyrs and chanting “For every fallen person, one thousand would rise,” and said, all Iranians of various ethnicities including Kurdish, Turkish, Lor, Arab, Baluchi, and Fars are resolute in their determination to destroy the clerical rule.
