Iran: 24 Criminal Executions in 5 Days

Ali Khamenei, who acknowledges no approach other than intensifying suppression and execution to counter the people’s uprising, continues to send more prisoners – victims of the regime’s criminal and plundering actions under the pretext of baseless and fabricated accusations – to the gallows.

On Thursday, August 10, two Baluchi compatriots named Hamid Barahui and Ahmad Naroui, along with a Kurdish fellow countryman named Afshin Rahimi Hedayat, were hanged by the hangmen in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad and the central prison of Hamedan.

On Wednesday, August 9, two prisoners named Ahad Hashemi and Manouchehr Khazai were executed in Hamedan, and another prisoner named Asadollah Arjmandi was executed in Yasuj Central Prison. On the same day, state-run media quoted the Marand prosecutor that 5 prisoners were hanged in this city.

On August 8, two prisoners named Hossein Nasirian and Hassanali Shakib were executed in Shiraz Central Prison, and on Sunday, August 6, in addition to the 7 prisoners whose execution was announced in the NCRI statement of August 7, another prisoner named Ali Eslami was hanged in Neyshabur Prison, and another prisoner named Javad Bazgari was executed in Karaj Central Prison.

In the August 7 statement, the execution of a Baluchi compatriot named Abdulghaffar Shahiki (Hashem Zehi) and an Afghan national in Kerman Prison was also reported. Thus, the regime’s judiciary has executed 24 prisoners from Sunday, August 6, until now.

The people’s disgust and abhorrence for the mullahs’ judiciary have reached such levels that Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje’i, the head of the regime’s judiciary, expressed concern about “the enemies’ and ill-wishers’ misuse” during a “meeting with reporters and media managers of the judiciary across the country”, stating that “reporters and media professionals should be mindful of the exploitations that may arise from their news.” Judiciary’s news agency, Mizan, quoting Gholamhossein Eje’i, also wrote on August 9: “Presenting a favorable image of the judiciary is not solely the duty of the media organization of the judiciary; rather, it is a matter that must be realized by all internal and external bodies of the judiciary.”

Once again, the Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations, the European Union, member states, and human rights organizations to take immediate action to stop the execution machine and massacre and save the lives of death-row prisoners. Inaction against a regime that holds a record of torture and execution in the 21st century is a betrayal of the values on which the United Nations and the European Union were founded. The brutal and systematic violation of human rights in Iran must be referred to the United Nations Security Council, and its leaders, especially Ali Khamenei, Ebrahim Raisi, Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje’i, and the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, must be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity.
