At the invitation of Gianna Gancia, a Member of the European Parliament from Italy, a roundtable discussion was held on issues concerning Iran and the Iranian people’s struggle for a democratic republic. The event saw the participation of several representatives from Iranian medical and specialist associations based in Italy.

The roundtable, held at the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, delved into the recent theatrics performed by the clerical regime, pretending to hold a formal trial for 104 members of the Iranian Resistance and as well as the entire People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Participants highlighted the escalating repression in Iran and emphasized the necessity of supporting Iran’s Resistance against terrorism and warmongering.

MEP Gancia stated that the authoritarian regime in Iran has been intensifying its repression against the Iranian people, especially in recent years, causing significant distress since the 2022 uprising. She highlighted the instance where a court in Tehran summoned 104 members of the PMOI organization for trial, calling it absurd given the regime’s history of violence against its opponents. The Italian MEP stressed the need for Europe to address such dire situations to support the Iranian people’s quest for freedom.

Gancia also praised the strong presence of women in Iran’s Resistance, expressing confidence in their eventual success. She commended NCRI President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi‘s leadership, describing her as a capable and determined figure whom she had the privilege of meeting multiple times. Gancia reiterated her commitment to standing alongside Iranian women and all those fighting against the oppressive regime.

Furthermore, Dr. Khosrow Nikzat, representing the Iranian Democratic Physicians and Pharmacists Association in Italy, criticized the regime’s portrayal of the PMOI as terrorists condemned to death. He emphasized the regime’s fear of women’s leadership in uprisings, as witnessed during the 2022 uprising, and its attempt to counter the social popularity of the PMOI by staging such trials.

Regarding the staged trial, Esmail Mohaddes remarked, “The trial is nothing more than a theatrical display, underscoring the lack of independence in Iran’s Judiciary. The regime’s desperation is evident as it tries to quell domestic dissent and international support for the PMOI.”

Karamat Jehandarpoor highlighted the regime’s intricate plan to suppress internal dissent and orchestrate terrorist attacks against the PMOI while pressuring European countries to restrict their activities.

The event served as a platform to amplify the voices of those resisting the Iranian regime and garner international support for their cause. As discussions concluded, participants affirmed their commitment to standing alongside the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom and democracy.
