The Iranian regime continues criminal executions to create terror and intimidation in a society increasingly poised to rise up against it. Judiciary officials executed 25 prisoners in just 8 days (July 6-13) in another criminal act. Two prisoners in Karaj Central Prison, two prisoners in Isfahan Dastgerd Prison and four prisoners in Ilam Central Prison were sent to the gallows on July 13.

On July 12, a prisoner was hanged in Sari prison and a young man was hanged in Mashhad for murdering an intelligence officer engaged in crimes against the people. An inmate was hanged in Borujerd on July 11; another prisoner was hanged in Tabriz in the same week. Two prisoners were executed in Qom prison on July 9, one prisoner in Zahedan prison, and one prisoner in Nasrabad prison, Zabul were hanged on July 7.

Six prisoners were hanged in Gorgan prison on July 6: one in Sari, one in Shiraz, and one in Gachsaran.

Earlier, a 65-year-old prisoner was hanged in Ahvaz on July 3, after 10 years of imprisonment. A prisoner was hanged in Zabul prison on July 2, after 6 years of imprisonment. Another inmate was executed in Jolfa prison after 13 years of imprisonment.

Stepping up pressure on prisoners has caused an increase in suicide attempts among them. On Thursday, July 14, two imprisoned brothers committed suicide in Hamadan prison, one of whom eventually died. A prisoner sentenced to death committed suicide and passed away in the solitary cells of Ghazal Hesar prison on July 9.

In the meantime, Khorasan Razavi prosecutor mullah Mohammad Hossein Darudi announced on the state-run website Hamshahri Online on July 14 about “decisive judicial actions” and said that regardless of foreign condemnation of regime violations of the human rights of those he called “thieves”, “we will vote for hand amputation and even execution”. This is while high officials in key regime positions, supported by the regime’s leaders, are the big thieves engaged in looting. The state-run daily Setareh Sobh wrote on June 25, “According to the report of the Iranian Statistics Center and judiciary reports, theft and inflation in the country has quadrupled in the last five years! … Iran is one of the 10 countries in the world with the highest inflation rate and one of the eight countries in the world with the highest poverty rate.”

The Iranian Resistance calls on the international community to take immediate action to save the lives of thousands of prisoners on death row in Iran and stop criminal sentences of amputation, refer the dossier of brutal and systematic violation of human rights in Iran to the Security Council, and bring the leaders of the clerical regime to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.
