Presidency of the Regime over the UN Disarmament Conference, Simultaneous with the Report of the Fact-Finding Mission on the Regime’s Crimes Against Humanity:
A Double Mockery of UN Values and Goals, Emboldening the Godfather of Terrorism and the Warmonger Head of Snake to Continue Crimes
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: The regime that is the main enemy of peace should be expelled from the United Nations instead of presiding over the Disarmament Conference

The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns the Iranian regime’s recent presidency of the United Nations Disarmament Conference. This assumption coincides with the damning report by the UN Human Rights Council Fact-Finding Mission, which found the regime’s actions constitute crimes against humanity. This creates a mockery of the UN’s core values of peace and human rights.

While the presidency is a rotating position based on alphabetical order, allowing Iran to chair this conference, even for a brief period of four weeks (March 18-29 and May 13-24), is absolutely unacceptable. The Iranian regime’s media portrayals of their leadership in disarmament conference are a transparent attempt to justify their ongoing crimes within and beyond Iran’s borders.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), had stated that a regime that is the main enemy of peace, has caused millions of deaths and injuries throughout the region through its warmongering, has imposed over $2 trillion in costs on the people of Iran to acquire the atomic bomb, and violates many international treaties, including the NPT and UN Security Council Resolution 2231, in the most severe way. Such a regime does not represent the people of Iran in any way and must be expelled from the United Nations. The resolutions of the Security Council regarding its nuclear projects must be reactivated, and it should not sit on the presidency of the Disarmament Conference.

This regime, directly or through its proxy forces and by arming them with various weapons including missiles and drones, has dragged vast parts of the world into war and has expanded its piracy by sending various types of weapons to its mercenaries in Yemen, in blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216, and has endangered shipping in international waters. According to documents released from its foreign ministry, this regime has spent $50 billion solely within nine years (until April 2021) to massacre the people of Syria to keep the dictator of that country in power, costs that have continued in the following three years as well.
