Ali Khamenei continues to execute prisoners without interruption in fear of the people’s uprising. On Wednesday, January 24, two prisoners named Fazel Shafiei and Morteza Nadimi were hanged along with another prisoner in Shiraz. On January 23, Ahmad Asgarat was hanged in Qezelhessar Prison, and on January 21, Salman Salimi and Ahmad Ha’eri were hanged in Hamedan, Moslim Aliyari in Shirvan, and on January 22, Hosseinali Shakoorian and Nasser Mavaddat were hanged in Sabzevar Prison.

At the same time, the regime’s judiciary sentenced the political prisoner Ali Obaidavi from the Arab compatriots to death in Mahshahr Prison after four years in prison on charges of attacking the Basij base in Hamidiya, and his brother Hossein Obaidavi to 13 years in prison. The Supreme Court of the regime also confirmed the execution of the political prisoner Yousef Ahmadi, 38, from Baneh and father of three children. He was arrested in April 2020 and tortured physically and mentally in Sanandaj. He was sentenced to death in August 2023 by the Revolutionary Court on charges of participating in the killing of two IRGC guards. This sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court of the regime in January 2024. Three other defendants in this case were sentenced to 20 and 25 years in prison.

In another horrific crime, the judiciary of the regime is planning to blind the left eye of Mehdi Mousavi, who was arrested in the January 2018 uprising. He is accused of defending himself by throwing stones when he was attacked by a repressive police force in Farrokhshahr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, and causing the blindness of an SSF (State Security Force) colonel. The regime’s courts sentenced Mehdi to eye retribution, and the Supreme Court of the regime also upheld this sentence, and it is scheduled to be carried out soon. This is while the repressive forces blinded the eyes of hundreds of young people with buckshot during the 2022 uprising.

According to the Mizan news agency affiliated with the regime’s judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary, promised more executions on Wednesday, January 24, in Bushehr, saying: “All issues cannot be resolved with preaching, and we must go after those who, in an organized manner and with their affiliation to foreigners, intend to stand against the people’s values and their psychological and physical security. All prosecutors throughout the country must seriously address this issue from the public aspect, and with the help of security and SSF forces, identify and prosecute and punish organized and foreign-affiliated elements who commit irregularities without leniency and within the framework of the law.”

The government website Didar wrote on January 24: “Even the insiders within the political establishment and the elements within the system see the continuation of this trend as impossible. With force, threats, prison, and execution, society cannot persist. … One to one and a half years from now, not even more, society can no longer tolerate it. … Rest assured this dam will break, and if it breaks, everyone will be harmed.”

All this brutality and cruelty is a shame on contemporary humanity. Dealing and negotiating with such a regime is a betrayal of democratic and human rights values. The Iranian Resistance once again calls on the United Nations, relevant bodies, the European Union, and member states to take urgent action to stop the torture and execution machine in this regime. The leaders of this regime, especially Ali Khamenei, Ebrahim Raisi, and Gholamhossein Eje’i, should be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.
