Iran: Fatality increases in Bushehr after earthquake

Based on received information from the city of Borazjan, where earthquake had struck a few days ago, the number of fatality has reached to 35 persons.

This figure however is increasing day by day due to the lack of emergency care system for those injured or wounded in this incident.

Despite the freezing winter and difficult condition, people have yet to enjoy even minimum aid such as medical care, tents, shelters and rudimentary facilities. Many lost homes due to the weak construction of homes.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 struck this town on Thursday, killing seven people while causing no damage at the country’s only nuclear power plant, state television reported.

The temblor struck some 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) northeast of Borazjan. It hit some 60 kilometers (38 miles) north of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, which is near the port city of the same name.

During the last 24 hours, the province of Yazd was struck 7 times by earthquake. Majority of these temblors hit the southeastern part of the province, especially in cities Bafough and Behbahad.
