The nationwide uprising that erupted in Iran in September 2022 has shaken the foundations of the country’s political landscape. Uprisings have been a turning point in Iran’s history, indicating that the old status quo is no longer tenable. The balance of power has shifted, and there is a growing consensus among policymakers that the current regime is facing an existential crisis with no viable solutions to its mounting problems.

One glaring truth revealed by the recent uprising is that the Iranian regime is stuck in a strategic deadlock. The regime’s inability to address the people’s grievances has left it struggling to maintain its grip on power.

The protests have also demonstrated that Iranian society is primed for fundamental change. The people of Iran have unequivocally rejected the entire regime and are demanding a new system that allows them to choose their representatives freely. This reflects a deep-seated yearning for democratic revolution and a resolute rejection of any form of dictatorship, including the remnants of the previous Shah regime. The Iranian people’s unwavering determination for a more inclusive and participatory political system has become a driving force behind the protests.

The Iranian society is like a powder keg, ready to explode at any moment. The volatile situation in the country suggests that the subsequent uprising could happen sooner than expected, and the regime’s fate seems sealed. The persistent protests and demonstrations across Iran reflect the deep-rooted grievances and frustrations of the people, which the regime is unable to address.

Moreover, the recent events in Iran have validated the analysis of Iran’s democratic opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and its pivotal force, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The NCRI’s long-standing warnings about the regime’s vulnerabilities and the precariousness of Iran’s political landscape have been proven accurate by the past few years’ events.

Some argue that the future of Iran is uncertain and could go either way. However, the validation of the NCRI’s analysis strongly indicates that the current regime is on the brink of collapse. Regardless, one thing is abundantly clear: the ongoing protests have set in motion a process of potential transformation that will undoubtedly alter the course of Iran’s history, with no possibility of reverting to the situation prior to the protests that began in September 2022.
