Growing support by former US officials and members of Congress for the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) indicates that pressures are increasing against the Iranian regime, a state-run news agency has said.
Khabar Online wrote on Friday, “Measures takes in recent months in support of the PMOI coupled with attempts by some officials and members of Congress to delist the organization indicate that the atmosphere of pressures and restrictions against the (regime) is being intensified.”
The news agency added, “Some very strong wording has been used in a report submitted by [US President Barack] Obama to the US Congress. Obama focused this wording on the political structure and officials in Iran, and renewed sanctions for another year.”
“The renewal of the sanctions means that Iran will continue to be listed as a state sponsor of terrorism,” the state-run Khabar Online added.
