German authorities have stopped a shipment by Siemens to the Iranian regime. According to the weekly Der Spiegel, customs agents in Frankfurt airport confiscated a Siemens shipment to the regime in June, which was headed to the Bushehr nuclear facility through Russia.
The German weekly added that Siemens had announced in January that it will not carry out further deals with the Iranian regime.
The engineering giant’s executives reacted to reports of the confiscation by saying that they are fully observant of their commitment to refuse to allow shipments to the Iranian regime.
European Union sanctions ban the sale of many parts and equipments to the Iranian regime through third parties.
According to Spiegel, German customs officials have confiscated six shipments since the end of 2009 which were on route to Iran through Russia.
