Following subsidies lift, regime prepares for suppression of protests

Following the Iranian regime’s decision to lift subsidies and in preparation to curb popular protests in response to the move, the regime has begun a large-scale suppressive maneuver by its State Punishments Organization (SPO).

According to the state-run ISNA, the SPO has already started the suppressive maneuver in Tehran and other Iranian cities.

Vehicles carrying slogans from the SPO are reportedly carrying out patrols in various parts of Tehran.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that subsequent to the subsidies lift, the Iranian regime has positioned its suppressive forces in more than 2,000 locations in Tehran to prevent popular protests in reaction to rising prices.
