Iran: On the 16th Day, the Nationwide Uprising Spreads to 170 Cities

On the 16th day of the nationwide uprising, today, Saturday, October 1, 2022, many cities, including Shiraz, Isfahan, and Gohardasht, Karaj, are the scene of demonstrations and clashes with the suppressive forces. Simultaneously, students in most universities, including the universities of Tehran, Sharif Polytechnic, Zanjan University, Tehran Azad Dentistry, Ferdowsi Mashhad, Meli University, Karaj Azad University, Kharazmi Karaj, Karaj Azad University of Medicine, Gholhak Pharmaceutical Azad University, Shiraz Medicine, Isfahan Medicine, Isfahan Technology, Tabriz University, Tehran North Branch Azad University, Gilan University, Razi Kermanshah, Pars Art and Architecture University, Yazd University, Pounk Azad University, Sajjad Mashhad, Noshirvani Babol, Al-Zahra University Tehran, Modarres University, Imam Reza University Mashhad, Bahonar Kerman, Science, and Industry University of Kurdistan staged demonstrations and strikes.

In the Shirabad region of Zahedan, protesters confronted the suppressive forces. In Shiraz, demonstrators took to the streets this morning, chanting, “Death to the dictator.” In response to the attack by Khamenei’s agents, the rebellious youth set the SSF motorcycle on fire. In Gohardasht Karaj, a large number of people demonstrated. The demonstrators chanted, “This year is a year of sacrifice. Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown”. In Isfahan, protesters confronted the suppressive forces on Nikbakht Street, and the sound of gunfire by the IRGC could be heard. In Isfahan, more people demonstrated at Shiraz Gate in front of the University of Chaharbagh Bala and Hazar Jerib. In Tabriz, in response to the attack of the IRGC and the arrest of protesters, the rebellious youth set fire to a government bank. The protesters blocked the path of the repressive forces by lighting a fire in the middle of the street.

In different universities in Iran, students chanted, “Political prisoners must be freed”, “The Evin (Prison) has become a university, Iran’s universities have become detention centers,” “Student will die, but never accept humiliation,” “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader (Khamenei),” “Baluchistan to Tehran, blood all over Iran,” “Proud students, support, support,” and “Death to the dictator.” In Shiraz, students chanted, “We will fight, we will die, and we will take back Iran.” In many places, the regime mobilized and dispatched a herd of IRGC and SSF to attack the students, including Isfahan, but failed to stop the demonstrations.

In another development, last night, on the 15th day of the nationwide uprising, night demonstrations, and clashes with the suppressive forces in several districts of Tehran, including Pounak, Sadeghieh, Valiasr, Serah Afsarieh, and Solequn, continued. Yesterday, in a large demonstration in Ahvaz, the rebellious youth in different neighborhoods of the city confronted and engaged in a hit-and-run with SSF that hurled tear gas on demonstrators. By the evening of Friday, September 30, the nationwide uprising of the Iranian people had spread to 170 cities.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), hailed the arisen students all over Iran. She said they have stood up to reclaim the university, a bastion of freedom, and cleanse it from the existence of enemies of freedom. Mrs. Rajavi said: You are fighting side by side with the Iranian people, from the blood-soaked Zahedan to heroic Kurdistan to Tehran, Mazandaran, Khuzestan, and Khorasan, to reclaim all of Iran.
