On Tuesday, August 18, a UN-backed court at the Hague announced its verdict in the case of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. The former Lebanese prime minister was killed in a terrorist attack in Lebanon in February 2005. In addition to Hariri, 21 people lost their lives and dozens more were injured.

Concerning the court ruling, Mr. Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said:
“Despite all the limitations and sabotage, the court’s ruling left no doubt that this great crime was committed by the Hezbollah, which is part of the Iran regime’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. (IRGC).

The clerical regime, Hezbollah and the terrorist Quds force have not spared any effort to disrupt the investigation in the last 15 years, hiding the perpetrators of these crimes and suspects, and preventing them from being handed over to the court. They were not allowed to be interrogated. And the traces of the crime were destroyed. They also used all their diplomatic, economic, and terrorist resources to perpetrate this terrorist crime.

“Khamenei explicitly stated this policy 10 years ago. During a meeting with the Emir of Qatar on December 20, 2010, Khamenei brazenly and explicitly threatened the court, saying, “The court is sham and its verdict would be rejected, and we hope that the relevant parties in Lebanon act based on logic and wisdom, so that the issue would not become a problem.”
“The obvious fact is that the assassination of Rafik Hariri was ordered by Khamenei himself and was planned by Qassem Soleimani and was part of the clerical regime’s overall plan to exert complete control over Lebanon.

“The court ruling shows once again that the only solution to the Lebanese crisis is to expel the Iranian regime from Lebanon and to cut off the tentacles of the IRGC and its mercenaries like Hezbollah from Lebanon.
“This is a task for the United Nations Security Council, its member states, the European Union and all parties seeking peace and stability in Lebanon and the Middle East.”
