While the EU leaders held a summit in Brussels, the Iranian diaspora and supporters of the Iranian Resistance in Belgium rallied outside the European Union headquarters this morning, supporting nationwide protests in Iran.

Iranians urged the European Union to designate the entire Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) in the EU’s terrorist listing, expel their agents and operatives from the European Union, and revoke their passports.

In her video message to the rally, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said, “on its 36th day, the magnificent Iran uprising continues to shake the pillars of Khamenei’s oppression, crimes, and injustice. Your rally today is now sending a powerful message to the world. The message of the Iran uprising to the leaders of the 27 European Union member states, presently meeting in Brussels, and to all the world leaders is that the mullahs’ era has ended”. She added, “the era for an international Iran policy based on engaging the clerical regime has also ended. Now, the people of Iran, the Iran uprising, and the Iranian Resistance are the ones who will have the final say. Recognize the Iranian people’s struggle to overthrow the regime.”

The European Union Leader’s summit held on October 20 and 21 in Brussels, is due to adopt the second series of sanctions against the clerical regime. On Monday, October 17, the European Union Foreign Ministers’ meeting sanctioned 11 individuals and four institutions in response to the regime’s brutal repression of Iranian people’s demonstrations.

While Iranians in Brussels demonstrated expressing solidarity with the families of political prisoners and detained protesters who are in a sit-in protest outside Tehran’s Evin Prison, they urged the European leaders to hold the clerical regime accountable for the recent bloodbath in Iranian prisons.

On October 15, dozens were killed and injured during an attack by the IRGC’s Special Units in the notorious Evin prison. Following the tragic massacre, Ghezelhesar Prison in Karaj witnessed a similar attack. Before that, the prison guards set Lakan Prison in Rasht, north Iran, on fire, murdering ten prisoners.

The Iranian in Shuman Square in front of the EU headquarter also supported Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s call to the international community to send a delegation to prisons for investigation.

Addressing the rally, Abolghassem Rezaee, the deputy-secretary of the NCRI, who lost six members of his family during the Shah and Mullahs’ dictatorship, said: “Today, due to the efforts and perseverance of the Resistance Units, the regime has been unable to silence the Iranian people, and exterminate the uprisings. Despite all the crimes in recent weeks, the uprising has continued.” He added, “Marking the beginning of the sixth week of the uprising, we pledge to liberate the people of Iran and overthrow the ruling regime and will not rest until we establish a democratic republic based on the separation of the religion and state.”

In his speech, Mr. Marc-Jean Ghyssels, a renowned Belgian lawmaker, praised the Iranian-European community’s activities in solidarity with the protesters in Iran. He also emphasized the support of the European people’s representatives for the Iranian people’s uprising to achieve freedom and democracy in Iran. He said: “The representatives of the people of Belgium will be with you and the Iranian Resistance until the victory of the Iranian people’s uprising.”

Mr. Serge de Patoul, a former Belgian MP, was another speaker at the rally. He extended his support and solidarity with the Iranian people’s uprising to overthrow Iran’s religious dictatorship.

The NCRI supporters in Belgium reiterated their desire for a democratic Iran. They rejected any dictatorship by repeating the same slogan commonly used by the demonstrators in Iran, “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the leader (Khamenei).”
